Zangief officially dropped the dated 1990s pro wrestler gear for his comeback at age 50 (see Street Fighter: The Later Years). He embraced, instead, a more up-to-date MMA image since, let's face it, having incorporated karate, kung fu and sambo into his all-around wrestling style, an MMA fighter is really what he always was. Just as Elvis dropped his 1950s attire for his comeback in 1969. The morning I received the script which described his new fighting gear (just a red brief and a chain around his neck), I laughed but saw that it made sense.
