One of the popular canon foreigner Pokemon to give Ash in fanfiction was always Lucario, thanks to Ash's unique connection to Aura. He never got a Lucario in canon despite it being a perfect Pokemon for him.

Until now.

Okay, so it's still a Riolu right now, but promotional materials have all but confirmed that the little guy's gonna evolve, and that it's gonna happen soon. Personally, Ash and Riolu's arc has been the best thing about Pokemon Journeys for me. I have mixed feelings about the series as a whole, but for me, this part is easily the highlight.

I only have one concern, though. Whatever happens in this series, whatever comes our hero's way, whatever BS the writers decide to put him through this time around...please, PLEASE, PLEASE!!! For the love of Arceus, DO NOT MAKE ASH RELEASE LUCARIO!!!
