Interesting concept. Other than the ammo thats been commented to death on, there are a few other practical conserns. With the stock's in-line shape, the scope needs to be raised a bit higher and moved more forward, or the user would never be able see through it, the grip is too small and the square shape of the grip would be really uncomfortable too. The best hints I can offer when making guns like this, is to look at real-world firearms and modify those details to work with the railgun mechanism.

I like Gauss rifles and this one looks great, one little thing... you wouldn't need the standard cartridge to fire, since it use magnetic force to propel the projectile.

Well there one other thing... power sources. The size of the actual unit you'd need is much larger than the gun...

that round part looks like an internal generator, it makes it's own power.
