Gaius Crastinus(85BC-48BC) was a remarkable centurion of the Legion X Equestris. He began his service in 65BC by entering legion VIII or IX in Hispania and joined in 61BC legion X as a junior-grade centurion as it was founded by Julius Caesar. He was a fearless soldier, less astute, bornt to fight. Through his courage and the way he cared for the welfare of his men ,he gained their respect as well as Caesar's attention. He was eventually promote by Caesar to the rank of ''Primus Pilus'' (Eng: the first spear) what was the highest rank among centurions, commander of about 800 men( 10 centuries)
I might do the full painting of Gaius Crastinus in a battle soon..
