History:

Hawke class was considered as member of the Venus project but was not designed and built by same shipyard. It was designed by San Francisco yards (with Venus project ships: Venus, Tanganyika, Himalaya, Buenos Aires and Patria) designed and built in Utopia Planitia.

Hawke share many elements from Tanganyika class, including saucer section and warp nacelles. Originally around twenty of these ships were to be built as supplement to Tanganyika and Venus classes, only two ships were built. USS Hawke and USS Moa would be launched between 2350-2351 and would serve as test beds, unfortunatley these two ships were plagued by constant problems and with Tanganyika been succesful Starfleet cancel the Hawke program, two ships would continue serving as test beds ut ironically would have problems until 2358 when they were finally fully operational. Design team on Utopia would call Hawke class the black duck of the Venus family. These two ships would often serve as patrol ships near Sol system or transports. In 2366 during Wolf 359, Hawke was in orbit of Andoria and Moa was in drydock at San Francisco yards for upgrades, none saw combat against Borg. Hawke would later see combat against Borg in battle of sector 001, ironically it will survive the battle although badly damaged. In 2375 both ships would be part of 4th fleet and would engage Breen who attack Earth. These would be last combat for these two ships as they would remain in Sol system unitl 2385 when both were retired.
