CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!
COLORED REFS OF MY 4 MAIN LEMURS!

MMYEP. So these are just basic colored refs... which are fairly bad refs for markings since I had to use a lot of crosshatch-shading to make up for my lack of marker colors. WHOOPS.
In order:
Ed- Male- natural Black x Crowned Lemur hybrid. (Eulemur macaco x coronatus ):
Ed is a rather stereotypical "Special Ed" character. Not only is he a hybrid, so he's starting off with pretty bad genetics from the get-go, but he also suffered a long list of head injuries in his early years of life. He's pretty stupid, a bit oblivious, relatively destructive, and VERY LOUD. The majority of what he says, he says with REAL-LIFE CAPS LOCK. He's very hyper, obnoxious, and crazy. On the flipside, these things make him a very wild and expressive character that can be a blast to draw!
Oh, and he's also naked. Yeah.

Hailey- Female- White-Belted Black and White Ruffed Lemur (Varecia variegata subcincta ):
A major grease-monkey (or lemur, in this case), Hailey has been building machines- robots in particular- ever since she was a kid. She's always working on some new gadget or contraption, be it robot or just some other invention, and when she's NOT working on one of the above then she's usually working on the motorcycle she's hiding in her garage. Despite her often dirty look and her tendency to attract the tough-girl stereotype just because of her work, Hailey's actually a calm and quiet chick. When hanging out with people, she's usually content to just sit back, watching and listening, just enjoying the company. Of course, she can still be aggressive when she needs to be, and certain people (*coughTaphAndSanfordcough*) are pretty good at flaring her temper. If you can get her to actually talk, though, she's a huge flaming nerd about robotics and machines in general and will chatter about them to no end.
She seems normal enough.... but, behind it all, she's actually very emotionally unstable and is prone to severe mental breakdowns. The only person, currently, who has ever seen and been able to calm these is her robot "brother", F.R.E.D...

Sanford- Male- Sanford's Brown Lemur (Eulemur sanfordi ):
He's single, he's sarcastic, he's smokin', he's... Sanford. :U An Irish ladies-man of a lemur, Sanford has good enough looks and charm when it comes to the ladies, but what he lacks is the tact to actually get anywhere in his flirting attempts. Sanford is quick to make snappy remarks and insults, more out of boredom and desire for a laugh rather than of actual spite. He's one of the only people that will actually pull pranks with Ed- strange, since the two are actually really competitive of each-other in most situations.
Again contrasting from stereotype, Sanford is an Irishman who rarely drinks. He actually doesn't smoke very often, either- I just like to draw him with a cigarette because... I never draw characters with cigarettes. NOW, this isn't to say he NEVER drinks, he just rarely gets the chance- He's somewhere in his early 20s and yet his only friends in the area seem to be this little trio of teenagers. He can't very well go boozin' with a bunch of kids, and he probably wouldn't want to go boozin' by himself, and thus he rarely drinks. The best guess for why he opted to hang out with the troop is because of all the video games to keep him entertained in the otherwise painfully boring village they all live in.

Benny- Male- Common Brown Lemur (Eulemur fulvus fulvus ):
The biggest nerd of the bunch, Benny is the kind-hearted soul that keeps the weird little group together. He's sweet and generous most of the time, pretty patient and tolerant, but Sanford has manages to make him snap from time to time. He can be awkward at times- especially when he ends up making excited squeaky-grunts when he gets really into his video games. Not only is he more or less the one who brought them all together in the first place, but he's also the one with the sweet pad that everyone likes to hang at. Being the video game nut he is, he has an impressive collection of games stashed in his room, all with the nicest equipment to play it on... So, naturally, Ed and Sanford destroy it all. It can be tough keeping up with the things they break, but Benny's learned to be patient. He grew up with Ed, as his only companion, and as such the two practically seem like brothers. Also, even though he's a highly arboreal lemur, Benny has a childhood-rooted fear of heights. If he's climbing around like normal then he has no trouble, but if he happens to look down for any reason... he completely freezes up, often latching onto the nearest latchable-object for dear life.

Mmmyep, and I guess that's about it! Hoolaaaaay!

AND NOW, BACK TO THE OLD ARTISTIC COMMENTARY~

I'm really sad about one pic here... Benny looked adorable before I finished him. DB> I messed up the lineart in some places, I didn't have the colors I needed so the markings on his body look whacked, and I accidentally made his eyes too dark... Then I had no idea what color to make his shirt, so I made it pink, but he looked like a fruit so I put blue over it... Then I didn't know what color(s) to make his pants, so I just went all lame and made them like my pajama pants (which I'm actually wearing right now! HUZZAH! And I have a blue shirt on, too, but it's my sky blue Horton Hears a Who shirt... Not a 1 up shirt.)... And ARGH. So sad. ;o;

Sanford gave me some troubles, too... I put darker shadows on his hair and I regret it. D: Also I think I messed up his marking colors, as I did with Benny. Stupid lack of marker colors...

Hailey's eyes look retarded (they're supposed to be silvery-yellow, not freaky gray-streaked madness), and her hair isn't quite the right color, but otherwise she looks pretty good.

And Ed... Ummm... I accidentally colored out of the lines with him in a loooot of places. I guess that's the only thing wrong with his.... :U
