Description
Created for theΒ Map of the Fortnight Contest Β The Promised LandOriginally established as a Penal-Colony by the Russian Empire for undesirables and anarchists; Chernarus flourished as a haven of ideology and liberty. After the war of independence in 1855-1860 the young nation became a site of mass migration due to the deteriorating conditions in the old Russian Empire. A Promised Land to all east-slavs. In the late 1800's mass migration to this safe haven began due to a combination of gold rushes and Russian persecution of land-tied serfs.
