The red light, the shadows, the grain, the blur - this is a very sordid picture. In my head, it's a commentary on how such sinful pleasures as smoking are what make up life, how the little harms are what we live for in a way (from el title), but it's slowly being forced out by the ideals of this strange new society never before seen on Earth. We're the first culture in history to not want to use plants to reach altered states of mind, to try and ban them instead of revere them, to trust to our science and knowledge more than nature, and look at the harm it's doing, to all of us, to the planet even.

Anyway, the photo. Sweet as a nut. The anonymity rocks, because it's not the person that matters here, it's the act - just as the act is all that matters at the time. Ironic how the flare of the cigarette is the brightest, liveliest thing here, too, as it's essentially death - but it represents living.

Sweet Ronald Mcdonald, this is one hell of a photograph!

Very haunting image, and I think that the single bold red line is becoming something of a signiture for you.

Damn, Zander. This makes it all the more necessary for a photo spree now that you're working that inspiration muscle.

that was actually taken months ago, the inspiration muscle is in fact a wreck of flayed nerves and atrophy.

but i think some exercise will solve all of that

so lets bounce.

LOVE the lighting! The multitude of shadows really adds atmosphere. Good job!
