This is meant to be a bit of a teaser about a certain section of Coffee and Afan's past.Coffee
Afan
this is not the typical way many of you are use to seeing these two characters. This is a depiction of these two back when they briefly worked together in the A.E.C.C. the event that took place soon after this would be the end of Afan's carrier in the Service Fleet as well as Coffee's rather short lived and disastrous tour of service.
The A.E.C.C. is the Anomalous Event Containment Corp they are tasked with responding to and containing breaches in space time, responding to unidentified artifacts, or dealing with dangerous higher dimensional beings. Coffee has her unique bond with " Her Boy" an as yet sill not well identified sub angelic 5th dimensional being. She and her Boy were experimentally tasked to a team to act as a redundant safety feature. It was hoped that she and her boy could act as an emergency extraction and protective asset. This is why she is not wearing the same protective armor as Afan. The armor and weapons Afan is equipped with here are not for conventional combat. This is protective gear are mainly designed to provide energy and radiation shielding, sensory enhancement, and breathing protection. This is to aid against chemical, memetic, and psychic hazards or manipulation.
Coffee and Afan now seem to live much more mundane and simple lives but their special talents could draw them back into service if the need should arise.

I've got a talent for hands and feet, It has always been one of my favorite parts to explore blending features for my anthro characters. Working in things like paw pads or retractable claws into the design and complexity of the human hand is a lot of fun for me.

Seems like these two have had a pretty interesting life; it obviously looks to me that you put a lot of thought into your characters and the worlds that they live it.
Tbh I do wonder about what Afan uses that futuristic Gatling for if it is not for combat purposes.

The main premise of the world I've made is that it is a refuge for out of place people and species. The divisions between technology, theology, mythology, and psychology are not seen as separate fields. My therianthope people are of nephilimic origin, as are many other races. I even arranged their mix of human and animal features in accordance based on apocryphal texts. I think the bigger difference with my story is that this world seeks to incorporate and used what is not understood rather than suppress it.

Unlike the model for most other paranormal containment organizations, the AECC operates openly. Public knowledge of what would usually be called the supernatural is commonly known and acknowledged. Anomalous people and creatures are greatly valued and actively sought our for recruitment. Coffee is actually a great example of this. She is bonded to a being that can jump between worlds, alter living things, and create powerful illusions. Rather than try to lock them up the effort is to integrate them into society.

Memetic hazards? You mean, as in information which is inherently dangerous to know?
There is hebrew writing on the helmet, and if I am not mistaken there are invocations of the names of angels on the shoulderpad, and a piece of the Tree of Life on the bracer. That is not to mention how Afan's presumably highly mission-specific weapon seems to end in a large vacuum tube - and has a dead man's switch.
When you say Coffee's tour of duty was "disastrous", the loadout on display makes that sound ominous indeed.

The mind is the first place that usually comes under attack. I'll be doing a more detailed description about that weapon in a later drawing. It takes a lot of gamma radiation, radio waves, and ultraviolet light to deal with troublesome things that tumble down from the stars or slip in from the regions between our material worlds.
Coffee and her guardian angel are a potentially either a valuable asset or a dreadful liability.

Was curious what the strobe light was for. Remember some of Lovecraft's more insidious creatures could be fended off with ultraviolet light. Not so much because they were at all affected by it - as with most of his creatures, there really is no effective defense - but because they could at all perceive it. Not exactly communication, but when dealing with such creatures any reaction other than violence is a good reaction.

In truth Afan's role on the ground is a bit more akin to that of a rodeo clown. The weapon does indeed have a UV pulse light. machine he has can also produce radio, Microwave, or gamma radiation pulses. This can be damaging to some weaker entities but in most cases he would be there to distract, harass, or evaluate the creature or situation while more complex machinery is arranged to contain the situation.
Coffee's "boy" is an example of such a being that has actually been peacefully coursed into a state of general containment and cooperation. While attempts to use these two as an asset has been largely ineffective, letting them enjoy freedom rather than pay the huge cost of containment is simply a more cost effective strategy. while they may engage in some supernatural mischief it isn't nearly the liability that would be presented by making them become hostile entities by trying to restrict their freedom.
There is also a philosophical objective that much of the leadership and deep thought computer systems of my world have adopted. Having beings like Coffee and "her boy" obscured and integrated into the general population provides a hidden back up security net that can buy more time for reactions to emergencies or attacks. Other entities have more successfully been recruited and set to work either aiding or defending the population. Simply allowing such beings a place where they can be free to live rather than having an antagonistic relationship with people gives these worlds an advantage in the chaotic terrain of the vast and dangerous cosmos.
