Description
Mac Gargan was a private investigator hired by newspaper mogul J. Jonah Jameson to investigate Spiderman. After failing, Gargan was then hired by Jameson to undergo an experimental procedure that would give him the superhuman powers necessary to defeat Spiderman and become a hero himself. With his incredible strength and Scorpion-like cybernetic tail, Gargan proved to be more than a match for Spiderman. The procedure also began to drive him insane however, and he would turn on Jameson and become a supervillain and recurring foe of Spiderman's.

For a time Gargan became the host of the Venom symbiote after it was seperated from Eddie Brock. Fully embracing the symbiotes brutal nature, Gargan terrorised a number of heroes before his defeat, arrest and seperation. He has since undergone further cybernetic upgrades and become the Scorpion once again.
