But on an unrelated note, does falling into the void only effect the one timeline? Assuming flowey already has the ability to reset, he could have known about Gaster in a past load file, but that conflicts with floweys known timeline unless Gaster was responsible for Flowey and not Alphys like in the classic timeline.

Well, Flowey was created after Gaster vanished and assumably can't reset to before his own existence, but he was created in assumably the same lab as the skelebros. He did only claim to know where it came from, not how or why it's there.

Maybe the CORE missed a spot because Flowey was dead when Gaster was erased, maybe it's because Flowey has Determination, something no monster has enough of to remember Resets, or maybe he does or doesn't actually remember who Gaster was, and is about to manipulate Papyrus by lying.
Those are my guesses, anyway. Whatever it is, whether he knows the truth or not, it's definitely not good intentions with how Flowey is at this stage.
