He wasn't erased in Mercyplates. And when it's Handplates related it's usually in those Joke comics with the Solid Gray Background

Because he was never erased in this version. There's the regular Handplates, where Gaster is erased. And then there's Mercyplates, one where Gaster DOESN'T decide to hurt them, and he's never erased. So, no glitched head.
