Something's a little off here...
Gaster always dressed and undressed them so they're used to people taking their gowns on and off. Sans in particular since he spent a lot more time in and out of the tube than Papyrus did.
We've actually already seen the book. Or at least, one copy of it~

Uhhh? Never? It's not like Chara and Asriel are HAUNTING the clothes. They dream about the past events, though. Having them dream about the clothes is more or less a derail of the story.

Sans and paps both dream about alternate universes, Sans sees gold and red, obviously the Judgement Hall and his own blood, Paps sees white, obviously Snowdin, is it really that far fetched for them to see the other realities by being in contact with the clothes?

Asriel and Chara aren't in the future, unless they look to the endings of Pacifist (which they weren't actually conscious for, memory is impossible) and Genocide (which they weren't present for, memory is impossible)

Asriel and Chara never appear in Undertale to anyone but Frisk. The SkeleBros aren't going to see them in their dreams, but they might see Flowey and Chara possessed Frisk.

I wonder if having his gown taken off triggered any bad half-memories in Sans, like "My gown is coming off, he's about to put me in a tank and hurt me". Not explicit mental images, since those were erased, but emotional associations. Or were their gowns taken off frequently enough in non-experiment contexts that the association isn't that strong?

I feel like since papyrus's shirt is too small, its the reason his "Battle body" also cuts off about the same length, cause it was the first thing he actually wore that wasnt a gown.

Finally! I have yearned to see them with real clothing for ages (in this timeline, of course). The look so cute!
Paps in undersized clothes is as cute as in oversized clothes.
The sans has been amazed by the sight of spines!
