One way of putting it I suppose.

This one isn't directly connected to anything, but it'd fall at least after the whole eye business , and becomes rather poignant after Sans learns to heal . As always you can get a better sense of where it is chronologically by looking at it in the index .

This is probably the most civil these two have been to each other so far. The next couple may be more Sans-focused since he hasn't had much to do in this whole shebang just yet, haha.

I totally would have called this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ if dev allowed it.

Sans, Gaster (c) Undertale: lucky he didn't actually rip it in half or your clever metaphor would've fallen apart

That answer...I don't know why, but I thought of Gaster without his flamehead (that was cool to see, btw  ) and crying when he mentioned ripping. Although, that was a very nice analogy. I kinda cringed though. Poor smol Sans.

I'm kind of a sucker for the pain on Sans' face when he says "small." Just how often do you think he sees himself like that? Not to mention the build-up to it, where he can't find the words for how he is and there are so many that could work but none of them are the right one...
Gosh dang it, this is good.
Also, Sans, you're the perfect size for squishy hugs.

gaster seems very into deep metaphors with very big holes if you think it through

Alando1137 In reply to Elmopenguiny [2016-05-24 03:16:48 +0000 UTC]

Remember, Gaster told him to do it "quickly", and "don't think about it". Sans was only doing what he was told, so there was no reasonable way to show Gaster up.

tbh, if i was under gaster's command, i would do it just to spite him

Alando1137 In reply to Elmopenguiny [2016-05-24 13:53:55 +0000 UTC]

Maybe, but that's what you would do. Sans wouldn't necessarily do that. At the very least, he didn't do that.

MaranweXAlbedo In reply to Elmopenguiny [2016-05-24 03:34:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, and so would most of us. But that's kind of a thing, it says something about the difference between monsters' and humans' natures. I don't think monsters are naturally rebellious like we are...

Elmopenguiny In reply to MaranweXAlbedo [2016-05-25 01:28:17 +0000 UTC]

Have to agree there. But in the comic where Papyrus heals Sans (look at it if you forgot) Gaster says that if he wouldn't be surprised if Sans were spiting him.

:T

MaranweXAlbedo In reply to Elmopenguiny [2016-05-25 02:28:12 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but being spiteful isn't exactly an act of natural rebellion. And a simple act of rebellion doesn't necessarily suggest a rebellious nature either.

"That is the nature of ripping things into pieces, you cannot expect precision. Actually, this is also relevant for when I start breaking your tiny body like a Kit-Kat bar. Man, I'm so smart."

So the other day I was thinking about how Gaster is able to do the things he does to Sans without killing him even though he only has 1 HP. Then I remembered that in the game, Papyrus will always stop attacking you at 1 HP. It's interesting because Toriel will deliberately miss you with her attacks if your HP gets low enough, but she can still accidently kill you. But Papyrus will never kill you, even by accident. It makes sense for him to be so precise, considering his brother's condition. Maybe he inherited that skill from Gaster. 8P

zarla In reply to robynred [2016-05-24 05:40:53 +0000 UTC]

I actually mostly figured out a way for Gaster to do those things but I'm not sure if a script will come up where it actually is a thing, haha.

I remember doing a comic about Papyrus being extremely careful for just that reason!

This is so weird to look at...like, I had to read it several times and I still feel baffled. I do not understand how Gaster can still act like this around Sans, you'd think it would pain him to do so. He almost looks like he was going to put his hand on Sans' back there at the end. I mean, he didn't have to answer Sans, he didn't have to say anything, but he chose to...gah, this is messing with my head. No wonder Sans' feels are so messed up.

The art and story are lovely as always. Sad that there will not be much Papyrus to come but I can hold out for the cinnamon roll. Oh! I forgot to say, I like what you did with Gaster's font here.

I think it's a bit like the color cube incident later on. He still isn't totally heartless, and in this particular moment he isn't steeling himself to hurt Sans. So his guard is down, and he slipped into Dadster mode for just a moment.
