Description
The United Kingdoms of Farasi, Onaga and Metinja or FOM was established centuries ago after great and terrible war. Since the unification of the three mighty kingdoms (and assortment of smaller powers) the region has entered a new golden age. But as of recently, events in neighboring regions have caused civil unrest. Many believe that this will be the end of a United FOM, others still view the United Kingdoms as an undying entity, pointing out the fact that cohesion from economic strength and stability trumps any thoughts of secession.
Unnatural/Man made Areas (Blue Dots)
1: FOM City: The Capital and center of the region, FOM City was established after the Wars of Congregation. Her towering arcology skyscrapers are a symbol of the United Kingdom's potential and is dominated by shopping centers, trade districts along with vast universities and housing complexes.
Notable areas in FOM City:
Twin Peaks of Excellence: There is an old legend which says that "[a]nyone who visits the aged mountains and is bathed in the morning sun as it shines between the twin peaks would be blessed with eternal happiness and wealth". Unfortunately, no such natural mountains exist, so the Neighjing Consortium took it upon itself to bring this legend to life after losing their original office building in an earthquake. Although it is just a legend, FOM City is by far the wealthiest city in all the land.
Midtown: Midtown is built east of the massive skyscrapers, an older part of town, Midtown still boasts one of the largest single shopping malls in the city, as well as a large stadium for both sport and Pokemon Games.
Paraga University: This massive scientific complex was built to launch rockets (as well as people and Pokemon) into space. Although the heavens above don't receive as much traffic as they once did, the University still watches them.
Suburbs: The low, sprawling suburbs of FOM City were built shortly after the arcology skyscrapers made vast tracts of farmland unnecessary.
Unity Bridge: connecting Midtown to Downtown, this revolutionary bridge spans the widest part of the Mann River.
2: Old Town: What was once known as the city of Columbia was assimilated into a growing FOM City. Now, quite literally, existing in the shadows of FOM city, Old Town is a living time capsule that stands in stark contrast to the United Kingdoms' past, and future.
Notable areas in Old Town:
Grapefield Bridge: A legendary Pokemon is said to make its home under this bridge, even though this bridge spans the narrowest and shallowest part of the river.
Butterscotch Plaza: The sight of many fairs, Butterscotch Plaza is known best for its high population of food carts.
The Haunted Mansion: While this mansion was once the home of a noble family, they did move out after a rather dark event. Since then, the ghosts of the family's deceased... were scared out by various ghost Pokemon moving in. The Haunted Mansion is actually a really popular attraction, and a great place to leave your ghost Pokemon should you find yourself unable to take care of it for a short while.
3: Xing's Fortress: Also pronounced SH-ing's Fortress, this relic calls back to FOM's dark and often bloody history. Built nearly a thousand years ago by the Great General Xing Sue, his fortress was steadily added onto over the centuries. The ancient historic Keep still stands as a testament to his brilliance. The outer stone walls were replaced with massive concrete and steel fortifications, which withstood a two month siege during the Wars of Congregation. The most recent addition was an outer perimeter of steel walls and bunkers.
4: Diamond Bay: This tropical haven has seen massive increases in wealth over the last few decades. However, the city is also known for its deep divide in class. Great Villas of powerful families are constructed only blocks away from wide slums made by immigrants and the unlucky. Diamond Bay still maintains the nation's powerful Navy, a strong tradition from Onaga's history. The City is rife with crime, especially in its southern-most region. It is said that the city's Police Force is nearly indistinguishable from the Marine Corp stationed there in terms of equipment and training.
Notable areas in Diamond Bay:
Trifold Tower: Constructed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Wars of Congregation, Trifold Tower serves as an undying symbol of unity with its gleaming crown and river spanning arches. Its restaurants futher symbolise unity by serving dishes found around the nation.
Britanny Naval Base and Academy: Unending rows of battleships and cruisers populate this massive Naval installation. Some critics argue that lining up those expensive warships is a tactically stupid idea. Although, why would any other nations attack one of the most heavily defended based in all of FOM? The idea is simply folly.
Battleship Bay: Often confused with Britanny Naval Base, Battleship Bay is actually a famous resort on the north side of Diamond Bay.
Golden Heights: Located on the south of Diamond Bay, Golden heights is known for the sprawling excess that are the nation's wealthy. The many massive family villas line the enterance of the harbor.
Southside: The slums of Diamond Bay, filled with eager immigrants looking for their shot at equal opportunity, or the downtrodden poor who break the law in order to survive.
5: Steelwork City: The historic capital of Farasi, is now the capital of industry. The city powers itself and neighboring cities with unlimited geothermal energy. Her massive factories churn out goods by the trainload. The city is hot and steamy and was viewed once as a hotbed of national socialism. Now thanks to new perceptions in the media, (especially the movies "Where the Hammer Strikes" and "Earthshaker") Steelwork City is viewed as one of the most romantic cities in the land.
Notable areas in Steelwork City:
Geothermal Plant: The massive Geothermal plant in Steelwork City draws water from the ocean, desalinates said water with geothermal heat and runs its turbines with said desalinated water. This Geothermal Plant not only produces energy, but 67% of the nation's salt.
Moriarty Autoplant: This factory produces electric cars... electric cars powered by electric Pokemon, so, if you are the proud owner of an electric type Pokemon, you could be the proud owner of a Tezla Electric car today!
6: Outland: The gambling capital of FOM, Land of one thousand casinos and the place where fortunes are lost, but sometimes made. The city is powered by the Jacket Co. Dam.
7: Farsight Colony: This small colony is home to about ten thousand people. The only industry here is an ice cutting business and glacier tours. A cool place to spend the summer, really. What is said ice cutting industry and why does it exist? Well, the Farsight Colony was built to cut a strange naturally occurring pink ice. This ice is strangely sweet and noone can explain why. Regardless, this Pink Ice is not hazardous to your health as it is simply, pink frozen water.
8: Oceanviews: The newest city built, Oceanviews was once planned to be built on land before an earthquake sank the building sight. Rather than move the city onto the nature reserve, the builders took the challenge to construct the city out at sea. Oceanviews is a very popular tourist attraction, with its main industries being seaweed and kelp farming. Oceanviews is well known for its population of Kabutos, the living fossils are protected by the state, so trying to catch one here could land you in jail.
