I have this super clever reason for why his name is "Ether" but I don't have the energy to type it out right now.

This guy and his twin brother were taken in by the government at a young age as test subjects to analyze psychic powers in children. Only one of them he didn't have powers but his brother did. In an accident his brother died but his psychic energy and soul were trapped in the contraption he was in during the experiment.

The scientists figured out a way to transfer this energy to a containment unit and force it into a type of psychic slavery. The best subject to exploit this was his Ether. Now suited up with some crazy tech infused with his brothers spirit, Ether has escaped the facility, mad with power, and on a path of destruction to an unknown end.
