One of my Cats (Rosie) kind of went away from us, because was being a bit naughty. I last saw her last year, she may be living somewhere though. My other cat Peach died last December.

I know how it feels to lose a pet. It feels like some part of you's been ripped out and smothered. At least for you, even though she's been missing for a LONG time, there's some hope that she can come back

Yeah... For a while, I kept thinking that she was going to show up on our doorstep soon. But she didn't. It was normal for her to run off for a few days, but those few days turned into weeks, then months. I'm pretty sure she isn't coming back now. She's a beautiful cat, so if somebody took her in, I hope they are taking good care of her. If she isn't alive anymore, well...at least nothing can hurt her.
