Description
Some scientiffic projects in Europe and South Africa have tried to "bring back" extinct animals like the tarpan (an european wild horse) and the quagga by selectively breeding herds and crossing different breeds in order for them to be as closest as the real animal, resulting in breeds like the Heck Pony and the Quagga Project zebras which have been bred specifically to have less and less stripes on their back and hind quarters. But the thing is that Heck Ponies are no real tarpans, even though breeders market them as such. They're just semi-domestic horses who have been crossbred a lot and the QP zebras are nothing but half-striped Burchell's zebras.

That expression on the Quagga is just pure gold. They both must hate impostors don't they?
