John is a wizard himself, but left Hogwarts a year before Sherlock joined so they never met during that time. (I'm estimating John to be about eight years older than Sherlock).John knew of Mycroft as the eldest Holmes was two years above him.
After meeting Sherlock and discovering his heritage, John stands by the view that Sherlock is not his father.
A Sherlock/Harry Potter crossover in which Sherlock and Mycroft are the sons of Voldemort.

This symbolizes their relationship well, everyone else makes fun of and is afraid of Sherlock but John's not, he accepts Sherlock the way he is and knows that he's not as scary or evil as others think.
