Spontaneously, my roommate called out to me the other day: "Draw an uncompromising demon!"
I wasn't exactly sure what they meant (and I don't think they did either). But after a moment, this image formed of a being that fights with our reality to exist. As if the reality it's from has more colors, dimensions and possibilities than ours - and our reality simply can't sustain it. But the demon won't compromise it's existence for a 'lowly' reality like ours - it will break its way through.
I think I was subconsciously inspired by Miyazaki's take on Howl's Moving Castle - both Howl's monster form and Calcifer's empowered form. And along with my roommate's prompt, this piece came together so quickly that I believe it's fastest piece of art I've ever done. Exceptionally gratifying.

"What did the demon looked like?"
"It... it was formless. Streaks of light bound together into nothingness. In moements I could see something resembling order, shapes of bird and beast, but they were gone, replaced with other nightmares from dreams I have never dreamt. It flowed towards us rather than moved. It swept through the town as wave, but nothing broke it's assault. Some who struck it were burnt to a crisp, others decayed into putrid piles of flesh, a few were entirely unharmed yet fell over dead as if their bodies never contained the spark of life. Striking it with a sword was like trying to slay the sea. I do not know what it was, but I know it was not the creation of a loving God."

Before another word could be spoken, the ground began to shake with stillness, their ears rang with silence, and every ray of light crumpled into knots. The demon's absence had fled.
"This is how I looked."

That was an absolutely brilliant piece of writing. You understood the character so well that I discovered new things about it reading this. "Nightmares from dreams I never dreamt." So good. Well done. Such applause.

Why, thank you! I mainly used the "Color dynamics" setting in Photoshop that changes every brush stroke to a random color and just went to town!

I can see that you took insparation from Howl's monster form in Howl's moving castle. The very streaky design reminds me of that. But it is an exceptional artwork as usual

At first I couldn't really see it until you mentioned Howl, then I saw it, but it does move a fair distance so those who even know about Howls Moving Castle wouldn't understand that you were inspired from that unless they read the discription. And it's no problem, I've actually been a pretty big fan of your works, especially when you mix two different movies into one picture.
