Description Since published his versions of the Mega Man: Time Tangent sprites I thought I'd post my versions of the 8 robot masters, including Shock Man's initial design.

I'm going to sheepishly admit that I've had this finished, for the most part, since the third quarter of August . It is currently beyond me why on Earth I decided to withhold these sprites, but they're here now so it doesn't matter anymore. I really like the robot master designs from Time Tangent, whilst some of them are a little unorthodox for Mega Man bosses like Gale Man having no arms I really appreciate the diversity carried through the entire lineup.

Despite Mega Man: Time Tangent never coming to fruition as a game project, I am very grateful for the opportunity I was given to work with so many talented people. It was an intensely gratifying experience and one I'll never forget!

Mega Man's sprite was created by Capcom, all other work displayed here is mine and custom made unless stated otherwise, edits and collaborations will always be acknowledged and any original artists will receive appropriate credit.
Do not edit or repost my work as your own because I will find out and I will take action.

What did she do, exactly?

She was editing my Mega Man: Time Tangent robot master sprites into playable character sprite sheets so one of her friends could implement them into a playable Time Tangent robot master engine they were building. Not only was this being done without my permission or without contacting me at all, my sprites were being miscredited to the Time Tangent Team, despite my work not being associated with the Time Tangent Team or the Mega Man: Time Tangent game project for six years.

She did, however, take the sheets down and acknowledge to not use my work again which was what I had requested. I have had no further problems with this situation since.

If you're referring to who I think you are then I'm going to have to firmly put my foot down in regards to the matter and say no. Whilst the sentiment of turning my Time Tangent robot master sprites into playable character sheets is laudable, the way in which you sought to achieve it was rather insulting with your disregard for the rules and regulations surrounding the usage of my work and the lack of acknowledgement for myself. The prospect of the robot masters of Mega Man: Time Tangent being playable in a game engine is one that held a modicum of my interest, having been associated with Mega Man: Time Tangent many many years ago, the bottom line is, however, that you are not to use my work in the future, under any circumstance.

Unfortunately I'm too busy to produce an extensive sprite sheet of Nebula Man for use in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, I've entertained the idea of producing sheets for 8-bit Deathmatch in the past but it never entered fruition.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy my work, I'd been meaning to make some actually good quality Time Tangent sprites since the project came to a close!

Great re-designs, btw, I thought the max colors on a sprite in Mega Man 1-6 were 6 colors

Thank you!

Capcom were pretty crafty about how they manipulated NES colour and sprite limitations to make colourful sprites for their games. Here's an incredibly rough example of how they managed to pull it off using Gale Man. Player characters were limited to only two different layered sprites as they would have to be rendered on screen at all times, in addition to the heads up display, enemies, particle effects and the level tiles. Since the robot masters are in a single room there are fewer assets needing to be loaded and rendered on screen, so their limit is three layered sprites. A impressively genius way of adding colours to characters without affecting the performance!

It's always interesting to me that even in 8-bit, you can have distinct art styles. Yours are completely different from ch4dstar's and yet also great.

It's cool to see how distinctly different people interpret the Mega Man sprite style. It seems that each person that adapts it to their uses has different techniques and methods of achieving the style, be it colour usage, distribution of detail and colour amongst layers or even how the sprites are drawn. I doubt you'll ever find two styles that are exactly the same.
