Why does a robot need to wear underwear? There doesn't seem to be a functional reason why, other than to appear more human.

She's got a human personality so she's got a sense of decency and can get embarrassed :V So they just protect her modesty.

You know, She's got all the makings of a memorable and even a marketable character. I would just say one thing would need changed. That dish on the side of her head.. everyone likes symmetry and that dish just kind of hurts the symmetry of her silhouette.

Actually in terms of weight, it helps balance it. Her ponytail sits at the side, and her bangs are weighted to that side as well, so it helps balance it out. A few aspects of her design were based on Call's design E from Mighty No. 9, and you can see something similar: likewise, a side ponytail (smaller, however), and instead of a dish she has a thick antenna coming out of her earpiece.
The dish IS removable as well, though, if the situation calls for it o3o

I thought her ponytail and bangs were all a lightweight synthetic fiber that mimics hair? How would a dish balance what is already lightweight and not in need of balancing? Also I know the dish is removable, I saw all the different tumblr blogs and read them all. ;D

OH you mean physical balancing, not silhouette balancing.
Synthetic will still have weight to it. Her satellite dish isn't too heavy either, it's a relatively small one.

Well silhouette balancing, I still think the shape of the dish is a bit off concerning symmetry to her form, even if you consider her hair. Though in cartooning and 2D/Animation characters, it's hard to create hair on characters without it looking too big or too small/flat. I would think that using a dish to balance out her pony-tail..hm.. it wouldn't be the way I'd go with it.
The cybernetics on the sides of her head are fine as they are, the dish just looks like it would be a bit heavy and awkward, and besides more modern technologies are easily accessible that are much slimmer and can receive just as many if not more frequencies than a full sized dish.

Still though, symmetry is actually bad for character design. Balance isn't, but symmetry is.

I completely agree. I really like the way you made her. And absolutely - symmetry can be AWFUL!
I find the dish is very well complimented by the ponytail on the other side, and not in terms of weight.
If your character just had the dish or the ponytail, you'd feel like there was something missing on the other side. Like a big empty space that needs filling.
In that sense, you have balance because both sides compliment each other. Not symmetry. And I can't imagine that small dish being particularly heavy. And not something an adjustment to her neck support muscles/pistons/mechanics or whatever couldn't easily remedy.
Also, when's the last time you saw ANY digital device in which all the useful components were symmetrically placed, hmmm?

Agreed, there's no functional reason why a robot needs underwear, unless its creator modeled genitalia onto the chassis that might be visible in situations say where the robots clothing might be ruined.

While we're on the subject of functionality it just occurred to me that Pivot has a Navel... why would a robot need a navel modeled onto their chassis, it's not like she was attached to an umbilical cord or even had a mother to be born from.....
