He's actually based on my own fish. (Well, when he was younger and didn't look like he has an orange on his head.)

My girlfriend recently got a set of Betta fish; they are just too adorable.

Aww Betta fish! But don't put the males together! They will fight until death even when it isn't mating season.

Yep! That´s why they´re in separate tanks. The two males each have their own one, and the ladies live in the large one with a few shrimp.
