Perhaps the title (for once a very satisfying title), speaks for this artwork perfectly.I beleive you have at least felt this at times in your life. I have several times in my life lately.
When you feel hopeless and only taste hopelessness in the air. There feels like there is indeed no guiding light and you feel forever lost in the empty darkness and mist. Indeed, when there is no hope everything both feels and is dark indeed.
This artwork is also an kinda old sketch I did of Oot Zelda, plus one of those times when I didn't have artblocks and were still avaible to express some in art. I thought that this was too god to be left and so I decided to color it.
With this artwork, I wished to capture the feel of hpelessness. How dark but blank and misty it really feels. And fr me it also feels like a cold winter with no light or warmth anywhere in sight.
I own nothing in this artwork as it is a Fanart, I only drew it and digitally painted it in Photoshop CS5.

I'm probably departing for Ecuador within the next few days to go help someone who does permaculture there. But there is a lot to do here too, first by changing oneself ways of thinking and doing things, and then by daring to face everyone who won't miss an opportunity to attack us because we decided to change for good.

That's such great and big assistment there of yours. But I also understand that it is allways hard to find time in this stressful void called life. But then your other reasons are very good reasons too. Especially to stand up against those who want to pick a fight with you just for changing for the good and the better.

Well, as this artwork is orginally based of a feeling that needed to be expressed, only the artist will know the real truth and therefore will remain hidden. But the thing that really matters is what your interpretation of this is. Can you find something deep within yourself or something other that you relate to this artwork and perhaps even find inspiration. That is what I hope to do with artworks like these at least.
