Thanks. I hope to re-do it some day, though, with Megan drawn in Equestria Girls human style.

A great crossover drawing and a great quote from Princess Celestia. It's so sweet to see Megan warmly welcomed back to Equestria. (To me, Ponyland from the 80's and today's Equestria are the same place. Just as New York City and The Big Apple are the same, too.)

(Well, Ponyland is in a completely different universe in my headcanon. And that's been solidly confirmed by Season 4, so...)

So be it. But it's still a great drawing and the encouraging quote is just like something Celestia would really say.

@ Cronomatt:
I have my reasons to be dubious of such approval processes, no matter what we're told. My expectation of quality in such processes in the comic book world has been thoroughly annihilated.

Well, I didn't get that report about her going through immediately. I avoid Equestria Daily, because they're a bunch of self-congratulatory self-entitled smegheads who encourage a bunch of the bad things about bronydom, and I don't want to give them hits.

No, we've been told more than that. Even with my avoidance of Equestria Daily I've seen more details. And it's trademark, not copyright. Either way, it was going to be "The My Little Pony world as Lauren Faust would like to have it", and thus be its own story. Lauren watched the G1 pilot and the movie growing up (And played with G1 toys, though she didn't follow the MLP and Friends series), and so there were G1 influences (primarily the pilot and movie). But there was a lot of stuff cut from whole cloth too.

The function of the journal was mainly to give Twilight Sparkle the idea of the Mane Cast keeping one themselves (thereby furnishing us with a replacement for the end-of-episode letter), with the secondary smaller function of delivering a snippet about what Celestia and Luna were like back then. What backstory the two do get -and origin is probably unwise (Lauren Faust specifically avoided giving them an origin. Where they came from, why they're alicorns, why they're effectively goddess-queens? It's something we were never meant to know. And her complaint about Cadence being made an alicorn was mainly that the existence of another alicorn in their family came dangerously close to breeching that)- is not something to dump out all at once. The focus was on the Mane 6 because FiM is and always has been primarily about THEM and THEIR adventures and development. As far as working on the castle in "Power Ponies" goes? That smacks of foreshadowing for stuff later in the season.

As far as Luna and Cel needing a sibling goes, have either of them been confirmed as childless? Blueblood is Celestia's niece, yes, but the writers long ago (like, before Season 2 aired) stated that he wasn't her direct niece. No reason that can't be the case for Cadence too.

There's a difference between "Butthurt" and "Cheesed off at IDW and anything to do with IDW" (a state I've been in since 2010). And I was trying to make a point about how past-gen injokes and references are no real indicator of backstory (and there's no reason to think the book title is any different from other references). As far as canon goes, ignoring the Nightmare Rarity arc by way of not even a throwaway line about it seems like either contradiction or bad writing. Pick one. No, Majesty did not have the Rainbow of Light. The Rainbow of Light was invented purely for the cartoon. But I was speaking in terms of their characterization.

And for number 4, I have watched multiple different uploads of the episode -AND WENT BACK AND CHECKED WHEN I WAS WRITING MY LAST RESPONSE- and heard "Years" each time. He may not have known Luna would become Nightmare Moon when he planted them, sure, but there in the present as he spoke to the Mane Cast he sure knew it had happened.

Also: You're blocking me? And you call me butthurt?

"Oh good, you finally figured out I was suggesting she remained AWOL for years and then snuck in -or BS'd her way in- and went through the mirror."

Uhh, dude/dudette? I knew that possibility from the beginning. I ignored it because it was almost as ludicrious as the 5 and a half runaway idea and the creators of EG already stated she went through the mirror immediately. That's why the writers of MLP:FiM looked at the comic's story and 'approved of its accuracy', like they always do with their IDW comics.

1. True. Each possibility is as strong as the other. Although if he was never an Alicorn, I'd like to know how his spirit survived for 1000 years. I'd also like to know who the Crystal Princess was and why she resembled Cadense to the Crystal Ponies. And lets not forget, Blueblood and Cadense exist. Ergo....Celestia and Luna had a sibling.

2. Your rambling about semantics again without actually making a point, especially considering we know nothing about the full intentions of the writers sinceΒ we are not the writers!!! All we were told was that it was originally going to be a new MLP with the same characters as G1, but they couldn't get them due to copyright as you know

3. Ummm, what?! Twilight was looking through Celestia and Luna's PERSONAL DIARY in THEIR OLD PERSONAL CASTLE, which could of given us insightful info on the things leading up to Luna going batshit insane/fall to the dark side, or their backstory. The writers, however, cared more about hyginks then where and what they were doing there. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, so here's something far less subjective...

...why the hell are they cleaning up a castle in the Power Ponies episode in the very center of the Everfree Forest?! Realistically only the 6 of them, Zecora, Luna and Celestia have the ability to get there mostly unscathed. ITS 100% pointless!

5. No, but its worked pretty well so far in MLP show and comics. No major contradictions. And they said 'Canon unless contradicted by the show.' That was how they defined semi-canon

'your precious IDW comics'Β

Wow, someone is butthurt and you're not even trying to hide it. And their little wink to the audience about 'contact 3 humans with the same name as the G1 humans' is overshadowed by the book "Who was Megan?" Sunset was reading, as you forgot. Oh and did this 'majesty' have the Rainbow of Light? They had Snape and Harry Potter ponies in the background as well as that little letter, that doesn't mean they actually meant something plotwise, unlike Sunset's implicatoin an ascension happened before in the movie or the book in the foreground she was looking into.

And I saved number 4 for last.

Β

4. Well you should get your ears checked then. Every other fan in the world would say he said 'thousands of moons ago' Β Also, total facepalm comment to what you said: "Β there's no reason the vines should have captured Princess Luna." ....DISCORD DID NOT KNOW LUNA WOULD TURN INTO NIGHTMARE MOON WHEN HE SPREAD THOSE SEEDS!!Β

(jaw dropped) How could you POSSIBLY overlook something so obvious? You are butthurt, you're reaching, you almost never check your sources when it counts, and you have less replies for my replies every single time. I already said I don't want to be your enemy so why are you making this many stubborn and rude mistakes?

Your arguments are gone. Just say "I don't want Celestia to be Megan." and be done with analysis, cause its not getting you anywhere.

Someone actually said that Megan helped the ponies whereas Celestia does nothing, therefore Megan was better. The truth is, Twilight and her friends aren't led by Celestia because they don't NEED her! They can look after themselves!

Having said that, I also wish to say that I do not hate Megan, in case you might've thought that from reading my comment.

"Celestia does nothing" What is it with guys like you? She's had less than twenty minutes showtime all told and and you conclude that she never does anything.
Well what do you think she does all day?

I'm not saying Celestia never does anything, I'm repeating what someone else said. Celestia is actually one of my favorite characters and it makes me upset whenever someone says she's useless, a mary-sue, a troll, or anything else degrading like that.

Well, it's not like the G1 ponies were incapable. They were simply one badass short of the full number they needed so Firefly went to get another. And luckily for everyone she has Zordon's skill at picking heroes.
