Ta-da! The box contained Transformers: Legacy Evolution Armada Optimus Prime! Hasbro restocked several things in late September, this guy included, and Amazon restocked him as well... at a $10 markup. But the Amazon listing actually worked out to be cheaper because it had free shipping, so I went with that. And he arrived on the 24th.

After months of fruitless checking at Target, I finally got him thanks to that Amazon restock. It cost a bit more, but whatever. Further checking once I found out how suggested he wasn't in Target's plans anyway. Annoying, that.

Anyway, this boxart is pretty awesome.
