Description It was Easter Sunday; everyone was awake and ready for the hunt for the delicious chocolate eggs that had been hidden the night the before. Well, almost everyone. My older sister would rather have a ligh in then go on an Easter egg hunt with her little brother and sister.

“Come on Deanna! Or else I’m gonna get all the eggs before you even get out of bed!” yelled my little brother from the hall, just outside my bedroom. I knew it was Easter, I just thought it would be nice to have a ligh in before my brother woke every one up.

“Coming!  And don’t you dare start without me!” I replied, practically jumping down the steps that lead to my bunk , waking my sister up even more (Me and my sister share a room and considering me and my brother are yelling at the top of our lungs, she was probably all ready awake and was just too lazy to get up.)

“Alright, let’s go then.” My mum said calmly. She was to busy giggling at how excited me and my brother where to get down stairs and start the hunt for the delectable chocolate sweets that she had hidden to tell us off for being too loud. The second she uttered those words, me and my brother raced down the stairs to where the hunt would begin. But my brother had gotten ahead of me and had gotten a head start, the bugger.

The moment we got to the living room we instantly started looking in the most obvious places for the eggs. Unfortunately because of my brother’s head start he already had a big egg and a chocolate Easter bunny, leaving me in the dust with only a few mini eggs (Not the brand.)
I was searching the doll house that my mum had given me for Christmas a few years ago when something big caught my eye. It was a big egg, about the size of the ones you get in boxes, and it didn’t look like it was made of chocolate or polystyrene. I couldn’t see what colour it was because of the place it was hidden. It was in a hole between the sofa and the outlets on the wall. Thinking that mum must have made some just for us and not wanting my brother to get it, I leaped at the egg grasping it in both of my hands, making sure not to land on it.

“Ah ha!” I yelled, getting a firm grip on the egg so that I didn’t drop it. “Mine!” My sudden outburst earned me looks from my mum and brother that both said “what’s with the victory cry?” In response I said “I got one of the eggs you made for us mum!” and I lifted the egg from its hiding place. This earned me a look of astonishment from my brother but a questioning gaze from my mum.

“That looks so cool, but I have the most chocolate eggs” Taunted my little brother, he loves winding me up at every chance he gets. In response I just stuck my tough out at him. Now that the egg was in the light I could see what colour it was, it was a toxic green with; ironically, a toxic waste symbol on the front of it and it was defiantly the size of a big chocolate egg.
“I didn’t make any eggs; I got all of them from the shop. And I made sure that they where chocolate.” Said my mum, worry present in her voice, I was defiantly confused now, If my mum hadn’t hidden the egg, then who did?

“I don’t think Paige made it, she’s got too much work to do” I stated. And we know that my brother didn’t do it considering his reaction upon seeing the egg and the fact that he would have made a huge mess plus he would have had to printout a stencil for the toxic waste symbol. He would have had to ask for help with that.

“Well since I found it, I might as well keep it.” I told the two. No sooner had I said these words did my brother try to snatch the egg from my hands. Suspecting that he’d do something like this I jumped out of the way and hugged the egg tight to my chest and clamped my hands over the top of it.

“Chad!” yelled my mum, thoroughly ticked off with my brother’s sudden outburst.”Don’t snatch!”
“But the egg is a boyish colour so I should keep it!” Mound my little brother, thinking that that was reason enough for him to have the giant egg.

“Since when has that been a valid excuse for you to have something, and don’t forget I’m the one who found it. Plus as you’ve said before “you have the most eggs” so I should at least get to keep this one.” I resorted, and from the look on his face he knew that he had lost but didn’t want to admit it. Now that that had been sorted out my mum was now telling my brother off because of his little outburst earlier.

Not wanting to get involved in the argument, I moved into the kitchen with the egg still clutched to my chest and closed the door, muffling the yells that where coming from the next room. Lifting the egg in front of my face and examined it closer, still holding it in both hands.

“Where did you come from?” I mumbled to myself, which was something I did often. Something that didn’t usually happen was that I got a response. No sooner had I said those words did I feel something move inside the egg. My eyes widened in shock.

The egg was alive.
