Oh wow, this is just way cool! This is the very cover that was printed on the omnibus edition of the Hawkmoon novels that I have here at home... I remember when I bought it in Barnes and Noble back in the late 1990's into early 2000's, probably not long after it first went to trade paperback. This brings back some series memories for me! I remember I also bought the Von Bek and Count Brass omnibus volumes around that time too. I have pretty much everything by Michael Moorcock though... he is easily one of my favorite authors of all time, and definitely one of the most highly influential science fiction and fantasy writers of the post-Conan years to come on the sword and sorcery scene. Elric probably being his MOST highly influential creation! What I always loved about Hawkmoon though, it how it combines the post-apocalyptic genre with medieval themes so deftly that it is a natural blending which enables the reader to easily digest the heavily metaphysical science fiction elements that come into play later on in the series, especially in the Count Brass series and its' conclusion. Great stuff all the way around! This painting is what I call a "must-fave" for me, for sure. *Smiles*
