Description
A star appears in the void
void swallows
more stars appear
they wink at me
void consumes
a wave crashes against the shore
crashes crisp
the sound of foam bubbles
and sand absorbing water
as it recedes
crashes on the sand

I cough
once, twice
water erupts from my mouth
my eyes are on a ride
a beam of light flashes over my head
the lighthouse by the cliff swings
its mighty lance in circles
the sky, still tinted pink
turns purple as night deepens
turns black
into the void

I see the stars
the milky way, a river in the sky
and at last i feel
your hand
around my wrist
i realize the moon is out
your face basks in its light
if i died then i would have been happy
but i live

You set my hand down
upon the sand
grains sticking to my wet palm
"I'm sorry."
and i could have died then
died as you turned away
the moonlight in your hair
as a sea breeze picked it up
and played with it
as i never had

The void
glows red hot
awaken, to see the sun
to a burn in my eyes
to the touch of soft
warm sand
to the sound of crashing waves
to the hard touch of
my fallen tree
washed up on the shore

All I want to do
is stay by this tree
this log
this piece of driftwood
lie in the sand next to it
curl up in my salty clothes
in my crusty hair
close my eyes
cry, to glue them shut
listen to the sea

The bay still echoes
with your voice
"I'm sorry"
