It paled in comparison to those belonging to a duke and of course the royal palace, but it was far from the mansion one would expect of a baron. The guy clearly had more for his worth than people knew. Mikyle was curious as to how he actually made his money. He and Reyla stepped into the ballroom and were hit with the sound of music and the smell of perfume. Per their request with the servant at the door, their names were not introduced when they entered. Reyla held onto his arm a little tighter than she needed to, but she couldn’t help it. I pretty much know what to expect already.” His words didn’t ease her, but they did at least give her some room for comfortability. It took all of three minutes before Mikyle was first recognized. From the gazes centered upon them, Reyla could tell that she was recognized too. Their appearance together created a stir among the nobles in attendance. An ocean of whispers flooded the room. “Well, that didn’t take long.” “Are you kidding? It was almost immediately,” Reyla said back. “Almost, but not immediate, which is what I was expecting. Let’s go, this should be fun.” “We clearly have very different ideas of fun.”...
