Kirk wouldn't have been so foolish, he was way too clever for that.
If you look TOS, you'll notice that Kirk was much more level headed when neccessary.
Todays Pop Culture wants Kirk to be somekind of daredevil he never was.

Ummmm. You're forgetting that Kirk DID meet a Q. Remember Trelaine from the Squire of Gothos? You know the TNG Q was actually just a continuation of that antagonist, right?

Mind you he was yet to be named that by Roddenberry at the time, so you could say that he was retconned into being Q, but I know from watching star trek special features such as interviews with John de Lancie that he was their template in writing Q and the continuum into the star trek universe.

I figured he'd beam out right away and start running away at max warp and of course Q would catch up with him and they'll be in a fist fight for the rest of the episode until Q is outsmarted and humbled by Kirk.

THIS SO HARD! I found it difficult to watch past the pilot of TNG after Picard actually uttered the words "we surrender". This is definitely how Kirk would have handled the situation.

I was thinking for drawing was that the premise of the joke was that Kirk would have an overwhelming inexplicable gut feeling of enormous loathing that he would compulsively punch out Q before Q uttered a word.

I was considering doing other pictures with what would also happen with the other crew members but the only idea that I thought might have been interesting was Scotty outdrinking Q but that one was probably beyond my skill level to draw or at least it would have required a great deal of effort and time.
