Can't remember exactly but in WoWRPG Draenei are described to either have "Low light vision" or "Darkvision" trait - the first one lets you see twice as far with any light source present but cannot see in total darkness, while the latter makes it possible to see some distance in zero-light conditions with no color.
Pretty much every non-human race in WoW has one of these. Fun Fact: Orcs have low light vision just like Night Elves. Which is dumb.

Okay turns out I'm a huge nerd and I still have a pdf on my phone. Dwarves have darkvision and this lets them see 60 feet in total darkness with no color recognition. Gnomes have low light vision, and apparently tauren are one of the few races that don't get either of those.

I think tauren have low light vision while dwarves and gnomes have darkvision, but don't quote me on that. Look up a wowrpg core rulebook, I'll check mine when I can.
