I have all of the showa and heisei films of Gamera on dvd (and a few on VHS too). Apparently there's a new Gamera film coming out next year (Godzilla 2014 cash in maybe?). Hope it's better than that 2006 one (I never liked that one for some reason)

I will be excited for the Gamera film too as long as it has something of a mix between the Showa and Heisei era films (having special effects similar or on par with Gamera 3 but plot being a mix between the Showa and Heisei series)

I saw it and I am unashamed to admit that I now think it is better than any of Toho's Godzilla films (though I still love Toho's Godzilla movies sans Godzilla's revenge)

I agree with you as well, although I think they still could have done better. I really love the old movies best! It would have been cool if at the end of the movie there would have been a scene with two militry guy's going up on a scaffling elevator and one says to the other. "we have a new weapon for the kaiju threat" and in the back ground we see Mech Godzilla being bulit. End of movie.

that would be cool! my only complaint with the film is that most of the characters didn't really do much (Bryan Cranstons character got killed WAY to earlier for one thing, and that Dr. Serizawa didn't really do much, which I felt a little disappointed over that.
if they do a sequel, I want three things to be done
1. have Miki Saeuga in it, as a major character
2. Dr. Serizawa does a major role in this film.
3. have either Angurius, Gigan, Jet Jaguar, Mechagodzilla or Rodan in it. In Gigan's case, he could be a weapon from some lost civilization on Earth and had been accidentally reawakened and goes on a rampage. Kinda like Final Wars Gigan somewhat
