Description
Next in the lineup... The New York Central's Commodore Vanderbilt! Unveiled in 1934, this engine (J1E Class 4-6-4 No. 5344) was the world's first streamliner, and was named after the founder of the New York Central: Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt. This engine was chosen to pull the 20th Century Limited from Toledo to Chicago. In 1939, this engine was re-shrouded to look like the J3 Class 4-6-4's.Credits to DanielArkansanEngine Β

Pretty ironic, as this has a box-esk tender rather than the Vanderbilt tender. It is named after Vandy, after allΒ Β
