Certainly a more unique and dynamic take on Flamedramon than one usually runs across.

My primary complaint is merely that his elbows look dangerously thin. Like, if someone poked him real good there, his forearms would get dislocated or something.
Other than that, though, I quite like it.

Noted that ever since its completion actually, made sure never to make that mistake again then.

Thanks for pointing it out again though =3

I noticed that Ray got progressively beefier along the set of sketches in this "wave," which was nothing to complain about. The elbow issue never resurfaced, either.
So good work. :3

Does he really count as a Flamedramon if his armor is changed? (Kind of like how Greymon is just a large Agumon without his armor, huh?) I would think it would be especially important to the Armor Digimon, because it's a distinguishing trait...without his armor, Flamedramon looks a bit too much like ExVeemon, wouldn't you say?

I'd say yes.

IMO, its the species rather than looks.

They look similar due to being rooted in the same dramon family.

I wouldn't say they're different species, if you consider the stage names of the Digimon are actually "baby," "child," and "adult" (which are In-Training, Rookie, and Champion respectively). I don't recall at what time they changed the stage names, but in origin, I believe the different stages were meant to be like different levels of progress in an individuals life.
That is to say, Veemon is like a little kid of about twelve while ExVeemon is him at age twenty or something, whereas Flamedramon would be Veemon on a different life path, like if he hung out with the wrong crowd and started wearing weird clothes just to fit in.
Hm, ah, I think I may be thinking it over too much...

Haha, you're thinking about it too much.

I just think that if a whole bunch of the Veemon family dramons lived in a tribe, it'd be really awkward for everyone to look the same, so yes, taking into consideration that different evo stages represent different ages, with each Digimon being able to choose their own individual paths, I gave Ray his own (choice of) attire to express his individuality, along with the rest of the ancient-dramon tribe that I need to design later on, with attire similar to Ray's for the purpose of telling others that they're from this one tribe and such.

The reason why the anime and manga stick to just one design is that not many of the same Digimon appear at the same time, and when they do, they're all so generic that you can't say that they leave an impression.

Ah, I see now. Although there was an instance in the anime when there was a tribe of ...radishes. I mean, Yokomon. Come to think of it, every time there's been multiple Digimon of the same species, there wasn't any distinguishing traits, and if there was, it was something added, not subtracted, from their normal appearance for their species.
I suppose that would be my chief complaint: that removal of the the flame armor no longer makes him a Flamdramon, but rather a...FlameVeemon or something (Just as there are RedVeedramon and GoldVeedramon...even though they're just color variations of Veedramon with their attacks renamed).

Hmm, what you describe works well in my case methinks. I see that ExVeemon, Veemon and Flamedramon + the rest of the ancient-dramon family to be one and the same, just in different growth stages taken depending on their free will.

Ray in this case, is a 'Flamedramon' if one wills it

Beautiful rough draft. The Untypical Clothing and the sound come well for the validity.
