"What?!" Scorchstorm exclaimed, mouth hanging open.
"Mossheart is no longer granted access to DawnClan territory? B-But she's..." The ginger tabby gritted her teeth. After a few moments of deep thought, the she-cat shook her head and sighed. "She's no longer with us... Mossheart is staying in MoonClan now." She told herself.
As if grieving for a lost Clanmate, Scorchstorm hung her head low. "It was nice to have her around while it lasted."

Scorchstorm looked up from eating a mouse. "Oh... greetings." she mewed. The ginger tabby felt a bit uncomfortable taking to other cats, but she pushed the feeling down.

Sparrow paw sat down with absolutely no grace at all and began to talk with that big mouth of his. ( he really is an annoying cat ^^' ) "So your a warrior right? cause that's so cool! you get to go on patrols, use cool fighting moves, teach apprentices like me wow it must be so cool!" he began to get a little loud but then noticed other cats watching and your fidgeting of being uncomfortable and quieted down. "oh um sorry." he said at a whisper "some times I get exited." said theΒ young apprentice.

Scorchstorm shook her head, the smallest smile curving her lips. "It's alright." she mewed. "I remember having a denmate like you. I'm used to this sort of thing... a little bit. I usually exited the apprentice den whenever he started blabbering." She finished her meal. "I'm Scorchstorm, by the way."

he smiled wide "That's a cool name, I heard from theΒ elders that my name is a bird." said Sparrowpaw.

"It doesn't matter," Scorchstorm tucked her paw beneath her, laying down. "It's still a very nice name."

"Thanks." "what do you like to do when your bored?" he asked curios and wanting to know her better.

"Usually.. I go out into the forest for a walk. Either that or ponder about things." she meowed back, licking a paw and drawing it over her ear. "What about you?"

"I like chasing squirrels and hanging out with my friends Barkpaw, Honypaw, and Wetpaw" "one time when I was with Bark paw he showed me some cool moss ball thing but I think I got to exited an accidentally ripped mine to shreds."

Scorchstorm let out a mrrow of amusement. "My goodness," she chuckled. "You apprentices are always so energetic." she licked her chest fur. "Have you ever been on a patrol?"

"no." he said looking down at his paws. but then looked back up at her with bright eyes "But I want to go!" "Have you ever been on a patrol?"

"Heheh... yeah." Scorchstorm gave him a small nod. "A patrol on the SnowClan border..." she sighed, remembering the landscape she saw back then.

"Cool! Whats SnowClan like?"

"Oh, it was very peculiar." Scorchstorm shifted into a more comfortable position. "A white blanket of snow stretched out as far as the eye could see, and there were hardly any trees there. Pretty shocking actually." she took a quick look around with her blue eyes, breathing in the scents of the forest. "I can't imagine a life without leaves."

"um-sorry but... what is snow?"

Scorchstorm gave him a semi-surprised look. "Your parents never told you, or something..?" she cleared her throat. "Um, anyways, snow is... a very fluffy-looking substance that can be tempting to jump into. Although it looks as comfy as a cloud, you can actually get a very wet feeling when you touch it. I guess it's basically moisture-filled grass..." she blinked. "I'm sorry. Was that confusing?"

"no I think I got it all...the reason my parents never told me is because my dad died in the fight and my mom died in the mud slide." he said looking down at his paws trying to stay brave, trying to fight the tears.

Scorchstorm flattened her ears. "Oh... Oh, I'm so sorry." she moved closer to him and touched her white tail-tip to his shoulder in comfort. "I'm sure they're watching over you from StarClan.." she mewed. The same sensation she had back when she was an apprentice herself struck her. Her parents were rogues. She didn't even know if they were up in StarClan or not. This fact always made her worry, and she wondered if they were in a better place or not.

"its ok... You look a little chilled are you ok?" he asked looking into her eyes that gazed miles and miles away.

Scorchstorm shook her head. "Huh? Oh, of-- of course! I'm just fine." she gave him a reassuring grin. "Just don't worry about your parents. They're really close by if you listen, look, and sniff hard enough. You can pick up traces of their scent... hear their whispering voices... and even see their starry outline. But only if you try hard enough." she felt a faint purr rumble from her throat. "At least, that's what my mother used to say, back when I was younger. My mom's own mother had died when she told me that and I missed her so. Those words always made me feel better."

"thank you, your words are very comforting." he said starting to purr himself.

"You're very welcome." Scorchstorm purred, stroking his back with her tail lightly. "So, Sparrowpaw, tell me a bit more about yourself. I think this is the start of a sweet friendship."

he laughed a little before speaking. "Well um I just became an apprentice, my mother was Autumnlight and my father was Lonemoon. I have a lot of brothers and sisters and I love to chase squirrels. Your turn!!!!" he said. Β Β Β

"Hm. I was an apprentice like you not-too-long-ago. My parents weren't DawnClanners. I have been to three Gatherings, and I love taking walks --just me, myself, and my thoughts." she grinned.

then he got real exited "What is a gathering like? Is it strange being around cats from all different clans?" he purred.

"Oh, yes, very strange indeed." Scorchstorm flexed her claws. "It's hard to keep your claws sheathed when you see so many enemies in one place. Well, at least that's how I feel. I usually go to the corner of the crowd and hope nobody talks to me..." she gave her chest fur a couple of embarrassed licks.

"I hope that someday I could go to a gathering, and maybe even with you so you could have someone to talk to!" Purred the little cat.

Scorchstorm smiled. "Heheh. That would be quite the relief, seeing that I have no one to speak with at the Gathering. It feels very awkward, seeing everyone conversing, mingling and socializing-- and then you're just right there, flopped onto your side, all alone, feeling like an unneeded blob of fur..." she shook her head, eyes glinting with amusement. "My goodness, I ramble a lot, don't I?

"Do you ever feel out of place?" Scorchstorm asked, wondering if anyone else felt the same way she sometimes did.

"sometimes but usually I always look for something that can make me fit in even if it is only one thing."Β he said looking into the clouds.

"Like what?" she meowed.

"well, it could be as simple as liking the same pray, or also being a long hair, and sometimes I try just talking to random cats to see if they might become my friend... Like you!" he purred happily.

"You'll earn lots of friends that way." she twitched her whiskers. "Most cats around here are really friendly..." she glanced at him. "Most cats."

"who is not nice?" he asked curiously with a worried expression in his eyes.

"That's something you have to find out by yourself." Scorchstorm meowed.

"It... It does?" she turned her head to look at her ginger tabby pelt. "Huh... I hadn't noticed." she looked up at the sky. "Goodness, it's sunhigh!" she trotted away. "I must attend to my duties!" she called over her shoulder. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Sparrowpaw!" Scorchstorm darted out of camp.
