The end of another day......
edit 1: changed the colour of the tree and ground to a dark brown, added the mountains in the background
edit 2: arranged some colour levels and reduced the size of the border.

This looks good - I've been trying to do something like this but I dont like most of what I end up with. How did you do the background (orange/yellow/green) with that texture and also how did you do the border - did you use brushes or something??

the background
(if i recall correctly) first there's a gradient from yellow to orange, top to bottom, then various photos of clouds, on top of that with different blending modes in photoshop. (the yellow from gradient and blue from sky produce the green), and then i just played a bit around with the opacity of each layer to see what works best. On top of all these I used a number of brushes, again varying the opacity and blending modes.
the border
the border is simply a collection of brushes next to each other, again, seeing what looks best, and changing some blending modes to create the blue effect.
hope this helps! just try, try and try, it takes some time, and trial and error until you get the right result.

i love the colors and their textures. the tree is well defined and the mountains in the background is a beautiful detail that gives it depth and makes the whole thing more interesting
whats also intriguing is the way it kindof fades out at the edges, makes it look like a painting with old crumpled edges. fantastic texture and minimal composition...
the only thing i could pick at is the traces of futuristic designs at the top right... although interesting i think u should stick to the 'rustic' look... seems to suit it more

Damn... it's beautiful; haunting and kind of creepy when I really start to think about the title. This is the perfect image to describe the feeling one has while reading The Stand or any of the books in The Dark Tower series.
This piece is rather lonley, too- if you're human, that is.
It seems post-apocalyptic.

Great piece, I never saw it before the edit, so iam sure if I see any improvement. But I do know that you did an amazing job. I love the warm colors, it really adds to it. although, I have one question: in the lower left hand corner theres like a black block with blue writing or something, what is that? lol but besides that I LOVE it. I can't think of a critique really cause I can't think of anything you would need to improve on. lol well, keep truckin!
