Description Because I couldn't sleep last night....

I got tired of always trying to explain how Pap and Sans ‘eat’, and ‘breathe’, and live. XD Sooooooooooooo, here, it’s all laid out for you!

sounds very interesting. almost as if their bodies are just extensions of their souls. kinda in comparison to the crystal gems of steven universe since they aren't exactly "physical" either.

To go off what you said creation-wise. I could totally get behind that. something had to have caused such a structure of species to take form. maybe an old human magician(or something else) tried playing god and made some friends out of goodness(LOVE, determination. pick your primordial soup). unlike most humans he encountered who were prone to evil or simply chose that path. maybe they had a purpose, maybe they were meant to change humanity either by one day creating children that were a mix of both or just teaching them to be better. like how doing bad to others LITERALLY makes them stronger to commit harm, more harm. humanities own evil struggles would backfire, and in theory, the war should have too. unfortunately they weren't strong enough to fight back. because they weren't made for it...

Filing this under headcannon...

Seriously, though, very well thought and explained, even with his unique single eye-glow. I wonder how that got damaged, or if he was born that way... Poor Sans, getting all blushy as you go along. Probably a little embarrassing for him, but for us, he's just a skeleton.

It would probably be very similar, just perhaps with more intense manalines, as well as anatomy closer to a physical human or animal. Skeletons are unique more so due to their lack of physical matter, which makes more sense for the sheet to focus them specifically. Much of the rest can be globally applied.

So much lore! O..O Lol that last comment! XD How DO skeletons have sex then? *eyebrow wiggle* (Don't answer that, I'm just trolling). Also, Sans becoming progressively more naked and flustered XD Very interesting explanations, love the level of detail explaining all the weird things they can do (e.g. have eyelids or make facial expressions) and love the drawings, especially the last one with the manalines!

Zeragii In reply to kaliu6 [2019-08-30 12:05:40 +0000 UTC]

Gotta have da lore! XD

Heheh, well, on a low key level I DO sort of explain how they...you know. It's through mutual agreement. They just sort of, both agree they want a child, and through magic and intent, it happens. This is not to say that is how other monsters do it, but....yeah. XD Mwahahahahaha, the trolling! Yeah, I tried drawing Sans with one fixed expression, but....I think he ended up reflecting some of my own embarrassment XD I know they're just bones, but I was feeling embarrassed on his behalf. ^^

Thank you very much!

kaliu6 In reply to Zeragii [2019-08-30 18:22:28 +0000 UTC]

Hey, naked is naked, right? Sans is a closed-off character on the best of days, and that whole vulnerable soul thing probably doesn't help either.

Yeah, I get your point.. it just doesn't explain what most dirty-minded people such as myself are interested in lol, as in how to have skeleton-sexxx just for fun / w/o actually aiming for children - cuz, judging from Alphys' behaviour, that's a thing amongst monsters, right? Anyway, as I said, this was just a troll comment and it doesn't really matter to any of the story, since your Sans (thank the heavens) is not this lusty sex-craving being everyone tries to make him. xD

Oh yes, I agree. That would be something like 9 feet here? YIKES! That's super tall. Neither Sans nor Papyrus are that tall, but, according to this archive, at some time there must have been some skeleton that reached that height. Maybe during the War? ^^

This MUST be cannon.
As a biologist, if someone threw this on my desk and said "we have discovered a new species of creature, here is a rundown on the basics," I would totally take this as being scientifically viable.
Your description of the 'Manaline circuits' much like the human nervous system, is rather interesting since the only reference I could fine to 'manaline' spoke of mana pools and moving energy currents around the globe. Good use of words there
But, hold on, (and I think we might have discussed this before) wasn't there a scene in your comic where Sans bled red blood? What would be the explanation behind that? (page 318 just for those curious)

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

Zeragii In reply to shadowknowsjo [2019-08-30 05:39:25 +0000 UTC]

Aha! I was waiting for someone to bring that up! XD

Since, at least in my version of everything, monsters of any sort do NOT bleed (they either dust completely or leak a silty substance from their wounds), it must be understood that what Sans oozes when injured is NOT normal. It's why both Flowey and Frisk were so startled by it (though Frisk less so, since she may remember him 'bleeding' during the end of a genocide run). This will be explained later in the comic, but it is safe for me to say it is not ketchup and it is most certainly not blood or marrow.

I'm just happy to see you replied
And now I'm thoroughly curious to see what the explanation is to his 'bleeding' is. I wonder if it has anything to do with determination...

Ellerocks1o1 In reply to shadowknowsjo [2019-08-30 05:28:06 +0000 UTC]

Ok, so I have my own non-cannon ideas and I think I know why he "bled." I honestly think it wouldn't be too far fetched to imagine that he was excreting liquid determination.

Let me explain.

So, we see in the game how Sans seems to 'bleed' when the Player finally lands a hit, but I think this is not literal blood, nor the monster equivalent. I think that his soul actually produced a weakened form of liquid determination, and when the Player cut into the body the bones were filled with it so it spilled out. Because skeletons' body structure is weak due to the fact there is not much to absorb blows, it would make sense that producing a weak version of determination could be used as a last-resort defence mechanism to help the skeleton to endure through the fight. That would also explain how it seems that Sans gets tired in the fight, it might not be because he is literally tired or lazy. The other monsters seem to have no problem enduring a long fight, but for some reason Sans can't? I think the reason is because when he produces that determination his body could be struggling to not shut down. We see that monsters with raw, pure determination seem to melt because their weak souls and magically-made bodies can't handle it, and maybe Sans can't either. I imagine determination as a form of adrenaline. Except, in this case too much exposure can harm him because, like us, our bodies can have trouble with raw and unfiltered chemical assistance.

I understand that this mostly uses the video game as a basis but that is my theory, you may take it or leave it as you please.

AnimeKingZen18 In reply to Ellerocks1o1 [2019-08-30 12:12:30 +0000 UTC]

I disagree with the part you say sans couldn't handle determination the only reason sans couldn't handle the fight long is because he is literally putting out so much magic and when fighting someone who has a high lvl of L0VE like CHARActer their the only one to damage him like that because their special and literally he only 1hp so if he could survive a couple hits plus sans is more like
Short-Fights and his brother is Long-Fights!
