As you might have noticed and I stated earlier this is drawn in their original style, which is why Knuckles is not hulking and Sonic's arms are not blue.

From what I understand thess designs are exclusive to the Sonic Boom franchise, all other games developed by Sega will use the former designs.

I drew them this way because its what I am comfortable with. You should draw them both ways and see which you like best.
