From a young age, both found themselves distanced from society thanks to their immutable characteristics (Sakuya's time magic and Bayonetta's mixed heritage).

Both posses powerful abilities over time, bringing forth obvious clock motifs in battle and carrying shiny pocket watches. They are also adept in a strange, hyper-flashy form of martial art that places an emphasis on projectile combat and whose name refers to bullets (Danmaku, lit. "bullet curtain", and Bullet Arts).

They both share a strong, undying loyalty to a charismatic, powerful figure who is proud of their heritage and wears red and white (Remilia Scarlet and Jeane).

Both act in occupations typically associated with subservience and purity (Maid and Nun).

They also attempt to resolve the incidents of the supernatural beings that inhabit their world (Bayo fighting against hordes of angels and demons, and Sakuya investigating and exterminating Youkai as a part-time incident resolver, as well as possibly being a former Vampire hunter).

Despite hailing from Eastern productions, their designs are at least partially aesthetically inspired by Western gothic aesthetics. Going by Bayos Famed Witch costume, their outfits share the motif of maid-like white frills. In general, they share the similar motifs of clocks, moons and gothic lolita.

Their signature theme songs refer to the lunar cycle in their title (Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial and Fly Me To The Moon - Climax)

Both have a contractual relationship with a demonic mistress (Remilia Scarlet and Madama Butterfly) and also have prominent animal motifs (Dogs and Butterflies) that stem from this relationship (Sakuya is refereed to as "the dog of the devil" due to her subservience towards Remilia, and Bayonetta is able to tap into Madama's power to produce several attacks and constructs shaped around butterflies).

They can be seen as nonchalant and perhaps even callous in regards to their personalities, they can come of as cold. In battle, they posses a distinct sense of sardonic wit in the ways they banter with their opponents.

As a ripple down effect from their roles in the world (Head Maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion and Umbra Witch), they have a contractual precedence over a contrasting set of supernatural inhabitants within their world (Bayo can summon forth Infernal Demons, as well as The Little Devils if she has the Infernal Navigator. Meanwhile, Sakuya is the designated authority to the Fairy Maids within the Scarlet Devil Mansion)

Their commonly ascribed names (Bayonetta and Sakuya Izayoi) are aliases (ascribed by others if you take Bloody Fate as canon), rather than their true identities.

Both are associated with a clock-tower (The Scarlet Devil Mansions Clock Tower and the Umbra Clock Tower) which acts as their assigned stage in a fighting game (Scarlet Weather Rhapsody and Super Smash Brothers)
