Wow
Could I possible use this design in an upcoming Gundam crossover I am doing?
I promise you will get full acknowledgement for the art work if I do use it.

cool, ya it's ok with me. Could you send the link to the story?

As of the moment I have decided to significantly revise my story as I was not happy with the way it was going so I have decided to rework it from the ground up.
Suffice to say its a Gundam UC and Mass Effect crossover: although I will warm you humanity isn't doing as great as you would think.
Still here is what I did for my prototype story www.fanfiction.net/s/12063077/…
Tell me what you think?

I've read it and it does need a rework. But I do like the idea. I would like to see the citadel react to the beam weapons. here is a link to the tech of gundam uc
gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Universa… I hope it helps.

Heh I have already done some work on beam weapons and I remembered something that doesn't make them as OP as you would think. But it works like this
A. Beam weapons operate on the process of creating and condensing mega particles that melt through an object where they super heat it to the point of explosion or just melt it and incinerate monocular bonds.
B. Kinetic barriers (Mass Effects main shielding tech) operate around generating Dark Energy to manipulate gravity and since beam weapons use particles and they are both very large and tightly condensed they have a mass so can be forced back by a kinetic barrier.
C. However beam weapons due to being made of thousands of tiny particles will hit the barrier over and over and do deal moderate levels of damage to kinetic barriers.
D. In addition when the particles hit the barrier the particles then scatter reducing in their localised mass and some are in small enough clumps to fade past the kinetic barrier and burn the surface armour underneath. On occasion a lucky shot can fry a shield emitter over an area of the ship.
So in short beam weapons are not One Shot Kill weapons against kinetic barriers
But yes the Citadel Council will really want them
But how would you think the Citadel races would react?

I think the same, but what heat bleed thru, the mega particles of beam rifles and cannons do release a lot heat, that is not block by kinetic barriers. And the beam saber does not use mega-particles. Instead, it emits high-energy Minovsky particles to form a blade-shaped I-field (via manipulation of electromagnetic fields), and then fills this I-field shell with superheated Minovsky particle plasma to produce an effective cutting blade The termination of the I-field along a solid contact surface allows the plasma to eat away at the offending material until the I-field reestablishes itself, allowing the weapon to "cut" through almost any target. Likewise, as the beam saber's I-field enclosure repels plasma, it not only keeps the blade's plasma in but also keeps plasma from another blade out allowing one beam saber to be used to block another.

Yeah kinetic barriers cannot block heat, however the heat doesn't keep going once the majority of the particles are deflected as the heat is given off by those particles. In most cases a beam rifle will simply heat the surface armour of the ship, however its unlikely to do anything other than surface damage. And remember ME ships use Ablative armour which is designed to boil away under extreme heat or pressure to reduce damage from kinetic shots. And since Beam rifle shots are not directly hitting they would have the same effect while the shields are still up. Still if a direct beam rifle shot were to hit the armour it would go through except against very high yield ezzo forged armour.
Also once again with beam sabres are using particles and plasma so the effect is very much the same as with a beam rifle except it would likely do less damage to a kinetic barrier because beam sabres have less mass than an actual sword would so do less damage, and the fact that unlike with beam weapon shots that I field holding the particles in would not allow for any particle drift when they hit the barrier as they are contained inside the I field and cannot bypass the shield due to the plasma having some mass. But yes some heat would bubble the surface armour.
