Description I didn't bring my ACV save game with me, so i had to remake my avatar

Played at and he was like "Big deal, it's just pixel art right?"
Then he saw the avatar maker "So you have to move the shapes in one by one? then change the color with numbers? THAT'S INSANE! YOU HAVE NO LIFE!!!"

Who needs a life when you have a shinoboob avatar!

Done in 6 hours from midnight to 6AM. (Yes i used all the layers)
And yes, that's my standard mech Right now

PS: Anyone know how to extract the screenshots saved inside the game?
PS2: If anyone who hasn't played this wants to pick it up, rent it. It has a brick wall learning curve you have to go through.

Was Verdict Day worth the money? I'm itching to play another Armored Core game, but the xbox 1 doesn't seem to support the ones I have, as well as the online servers being taken down.
That said, I like the image in the background. Did you make that?

P.S: I found this through ask.com. Your image here is a web search result!

Yeah, I'm the emblem maker.

The game is ok, It feels less polished than 4 or 4A. thought it sticks closer to the AC formula.
The online aspect is pretty much dead on arrival, and not much attention seems to have been put into it.

I'm a huge fan of the series, so I would get it regardless, but if you aren't, I'd focus on waiting for the next one and hoping it gets the love it deserves now that the company's bigger.

I used to play it before. The first one was V and Verdict. Sadly, the online community kinda sucks. Atleast for me it was. I didn't have anyone to play with back on ps3.Β

I noticed the series before V and Verdicts was alot better because the mechs moved alot faster than the new ones. I am wondering if they are ever going to make a new one for ps4 or remake the games?

Zerion In reply to NeoCorpCompany [2018-03-16 02:01:00 +0000 UTC]

Art direction and polish in 4 and 4A seemed better, but it was a different direction to most of the other games

V's direction is a little closer to the older ones, but it's somewhat unrefined

Hm... I see.Β
Either way, I used to enjoy playing it. Creating my own mechs, testing out things. I was still a newbie on different type of armor. I just went with the strongest or most damaging weapons without realizing the different damages certain weapons are best at with certain armor type.

Wait a minute... Are you on XBL too? I swear I have fought you...

My team is the Wild Ravens. Our emblem has a black bird with electric green feathers and eyes, over a blood spatter covering an upward facing crescent moon. Sound familiar? Black, Red, and green color scheme?

Not sure, though I think the servers are separated. At least according to the ACVD link webpage. It's been quite some time since I last played ACVD though, so I don't remember, but I do seem to recognize that emblem and paint job.

LOL awesome!

I've never actually taken the time to make my own emblem (in any AC game), but it looks like it would be a cool payoff.

How are you enjoying VD so far? Β

I find it more than made up for the issues I had with V, at least in story and overall AC game "feel".

Don't partake much in the multiplayer aspects of it though...>.>

Zerion In reply to shinsengumi77 [2013-11-06 19:45:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh, i did like the game, there was just not enough content. The "world" wasn't large enough, It's just hey, going on missions again and again and again.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

shinsengumi77 In reply to Zerion [2013-11-07 21:53:03 +0000 UTC]

lol but that's like every AC game...though the originals actually had some interesting stories between the plain and simple "destroy/protect (by destroying enemies)" objectives of the missions.

I agree that there's a lot that could have been improved though.

Zerion In reply to shinsengumi77 [2013-11-14 05:23:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, but the older ones weren't designed for online.

And people's mindset has evolved.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

shinsengumi77 In reply to Zerion [2013-11-14 16:34:10 +0000 UTC]

Of course -there wasn't really much of an option or that with the older ones, so they had to make the single-player a little more interesting.

If the evolution of peoples' mindsets is behind the creation of these more recent lackluster stories, I say we need a devolution!

The online battles are fun though...I'm assuming by more content and a bigger world, you mean a more open world (i.e. not just small sections on a map featuring the same old levels...)??

Zerion In reply to shinsengumi77 [2013-11-14 20:35:36 +0000 UTC]

Well, people still love good stories,Β
But fighting just for a name on a scoreboard isn't enough for the average gamer anymore.

We've evolved beyond the pause button. We have to start thinking in real time in terms of online game design.

While the sense of building, creating, and tweaking a mech, buying parts one by one, should still be there, there are things they have to let go of.

Newer games need a perspective on wars, something more than "we got more points, and they add up so we win"
They need to design it so that credits are a valuable and sought after resource.
Bringing resources into play and making people think how expensive is my mech?, and how much money do i need to repair it? making people go for weaker mechs so that they get better rewards.
It's a great way to "adjust difficulty" for players

I'm going to shut up before I spill anything on the game system i've been designing. kinda similar.

But AC needs to start letting players write their own stories.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

shinsengumi77 In reply to Zerion [2013-11-14 20:48:33 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I was referring almost exclusively to the single-player for the story bit. Β

The focus on multiplayer seems to have produced even shittier stories then before, that's all I meant. Β Maybe that's not as big of an issue for those gamers only interested on the multiplayer. Β I can't be on much, so single player is more my focus.

I do like your idea about the credits though. Β Not sure if something like that would ever appear in an AC game (doubtful, seeing as how each game suffers the same problems as the previous installments), but it would make the war much more intense if people had to actually fight over resources. Β Of course that would also mean that new players would probably be completely screwed, since AC seems to have a steep learning curve. Β I'm used to it since I've played them all, but some say it's pretty difficult and rely on only firepower and tank-types to win, and never learn any skills beyond maybe target acquisition from a fixed point.

And of course, your take on players writing their own stories really strikes a chord.

It would be amazing to see an AC game where it's similar to the stories of previous games, but for real -individuals choosing how they fight in a war between many factions. Β I would love to see a lone player come up from nothing and topple larger organizations in real life play, rather than because the story progresses that way. Β And if they fail, they fail. Β The ability to ambush other players in an open map, or launch full-scale campaigns in real time would be wonderful. Β Most of all, I would love to see real players become the charismatic leaders and legends other players would speak of with admiration and fear due to their prowess on the battlefield, rather than read about supposed great exploits of legendary npcs.

*sigh* If such a thing would really exist, I could die satisfied. lol

Zerion In reply to shinsengumi77 [2013-11-14 22:43:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, Single player story was half assed.
there was no depth to it, reminds me of Acecombat Assault Horizon where the COULD've developed the entire story more and then the game around it.
I saw the story (beginning and ending) sort of as it's saving grace.

Here it's the UNAC part, where there could've been a lot more story in it
or how it plays out, I just feel from is half assed and lazy
They could even have had UNAC battles, like...pokemon...yeah "BLACK GLINT! I CHOOSE YOU!"*spoiler alert lol*

It's like, single player used to be deep, because there was no multiplayer, now there's both, and they think it's an excuse to dumb it down

I'll probably say the game needs to be re-designed from the ground up in terms of online play, they just have to stop viewing it as an add-on to armored core.
A student like me could come up with a system for it, detailed concept shouldn't take me more than a month.
So I think there has to be something that stops the veterans from doing it.

Well, right now i got to concentrate on my games essay... *sigh*

I've always loved the AC series.
But V was kind of a letdown. Too much emphasis on multiplayer.

By trying to balance out the multiplayer statistics, they crippled mech customization.

What did you mean by "crippled mech customization?"

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

anotalenthack In reply to Zerion [2013-10-06 03:41:37 +0000 UTC]

In older games, you had specific parts for specific functions, and everything from your radiator to your optional shoulder attachments was factored in to your performance.
In V, you only had your limbs, core, weapons (and only a few types of those), and a few optional bits to choose from. I can see how it simplified and sped up building a mech, but it also took a lot of the fun out of designing your AC.

Ah! i see what you mean!
I sort of forgot about them through all these years, Radars looked nice.

I do think there's enough customization for a huge depth in terms of pvp though. And radars are replaced by recon units

No life? Nonsense.

Great art is a product of great skill and effort.

Great skill and effort are expressed best over a proper passage of time.

With that being said...I am *VERY* curious about this game (I love mechs, especially when you get to customize 'em--Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries was awesome for that). I am not fond of multiplayer, though, so I must ask these questions:

How much single-player content is there? Is there enough to warrant buying it if you do not intend to play with others, primarily?

Simply put, is it a single-player game with an added multiplayer mode, or is it just another multiplayer game with single-player seemingly thrown in as an afterthought?

I don't like renting games, so I gotta know. lol The learning curve also has me a bit wary, too, but not sure what that entails.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Zerion In reply to gigaknight000 [2013-10-05 22:34:59 +0000 UTC]

There is around enough content for 2 days of play. not much, they are trying to move it online i guess.
AC has been around since the PSX, so it does have some story, Well, it's a fantastic story very poorly told... or not told at all.
They have this thing they do where you're like a mercenary, so you don't really get told much, Most people would think there's almost no story at all, until you go online and read the backstories and it just makes you wonder why the heck didn't they put this in the game?

There is no learning curve, It's a learning brick wall.
It's faster paced than Warriors since your robots fly around
and even though I'm a long time fan, I still often get my ass handed to me.

I'd probably say rent this one if you haven't been deep into it yet.
