The sword is made out of a unique Drive known as Soul Drive. For humans to create this kind of Drive, they have to willingly give their lives. Not quite killing themselves, but focusing their energy into their Drives until their life expires. When that happens, their Drive takes on a more physical state, and looks like it's made out of normal material, except it's near-invincible. The cracks in the blade are proof of it's age
