He's pretty easy to use, and fun to use too. His combos are pretty useful.

My most favorite would be Takenaka Hanbei(yeah, your evil guy XD), for now.
Reasons: I like the sound of "strategist who can fight with a sword" and his combos are fun to play. Pulling enemies into your reach, tossing them around, yeah it's fun. 8)
And Mitsunari is right now top on the list too. His actions are plain badassness, and his theme: "vengeance" is something I like.
...Come to think of it, they're all Hideyoshi related. And purple. And white hair.
Well...I think dual spears is at least more possible than fighting with six swords, or punching and kicking your enemies to death? lol

Kojyuro is cool too, but somehow his combo was hard to use(for me).
I suppose it's got something to do with the range of his normal attack, and his special moves aren't...smooth, for my taste.
Don't get me wrong, he's one awesome character!
Mitsuhide...I do find his voice-acting and sense of logic amusing, but not his combos. And Motochika's a real cool guy, but I haven't tried him out much.

Well, I don't have a PS2, so I borrowed my cousin's PS3 and played it when I visited Japan last April. 8)
So I didn't play it thoroughly(I was more hooked with Resident Evil 5).
Well, by "not smooth" I meant his moves got some pause(he swipes his sword and acts cool, sort of.8D).
His swordplay is actually a "refined" one. His sword his as beautiful as Kenshin's. 8)
Not in a Feminine meaning. XD
Though when he snaps, he's got a "yakuza-looking" combos. He uses his head, his fist, to smack everyone away. lol
Motochika is real cool. But I didn't have time to level him up, so he was still a noob. *shot*

Yep, that's his secret move. If I remember correctly, you have to hold the normal attack button, and after few seconds, he'll be in that "rampage mode" in which it includes kicking, punching, headbutting, etc. lol
