i'm happy to see that you have gone back to the art of developing film with your own hands. what are you using as a camera for these blackwhite images?

Ha, thanks man, there is better detail cause I spent most of the time formulating for the shadows, gives it more depth, just a pain to do.

see, I find that interesting, getting to know what you did to get this result... sure, I might not know exactly what the process implies, but I find it incredibly interesting.

Every time I've seen those shots of men in coats I had to think of the Matrix. How often do you actually hear that? Is the "costume" somehow inspired by the movie? Not that I'd be a special fan of it, just wondering.

I hear it alot, but it wasn't inspired by the movie, I still don't see the resemblance though, it doesn't have green.

true. but the coat. man in coat somehow stands for it meanwhile, at least it's hard to not think of the movie. whatever

this is a very good picture, the lighting, set up, contrast, all excellent.
it has a kind of sinister look to it though..

Sorta, f/1.2 plus printing manipulation, just around the edges to blur out the structures.

Thank you, I have about 8 versions of this, and I think its just how things progress.

Yelled In reply to zerocomplex [2007-04-23 14:38:02 +0000 UTC]
I think that's the best way, not settle for less then great...
BTW: you think you could post the 8 versions (or the primary ones) in one ZIP file. or even get me the PSD or something... I'm very interested in your work process.
if you don't want to post it as a deviation in DA (due to copy rights and such), you could just post it in another FTP and send me a note with the link.
I would highly appreciate it.
big fan.
cheers.

Yeah, this one always looks slightly different every time you upload it. It seems to be getting brighter and brighter. It makes me think of being in a state of shock or nervousness, were you can't feel your legs, everything stands out too bright.

I think the print may look a bit more bright than it really is here in this case, but yes they do get brighter.

how did you achieve the blur effect? my first guess would be, that you have put sth below the paper. nevertheless it's bad, that the scans are not able to show the real power of this print.
