Description
My wife and I just watched the Golden Compass, and I remembered I had a bunch of frames of polar bears. So yeah, not very representative of the animal and it's natural behavior, but who cares, they'll be dead in like 5 years.
Just kidding.
All my friends gave a sad reaction, saying the bear looked so sad, an easy assumption with no real context.
Blah blah blah
Thought it was cute to submit and show some polar bear frames!

Not as sentimental as the other, more like a frame from some kind of art film.

Of course he looks sad, he is not free... It is very sad seeing a beautiful animal trapped in a zoo. Powerful image!

Hey zero, the fur & claws in this photograph are stunning.....! Polar bears are always depicted as cute, cuddly and white. Your photography here shows a real depth and texture to the animal...! Love this image....!

Lovely photo, but i hope the title is in the essence of irony, because for me there is nothing more saddening then seeing these majestic creatures boarded up in a zoo for people to google at.

Wasn't putting up the title for any irony, or any real attachment to the display of em, either way both were happy it seemed.

If I had magic powers I'd remove the glass so I could caption this... "Lookout kid that thing'll tear your arm off...." Then I'd magically put the glass back, so the kid don't get hurt. heh

The colours do look kind of weird.
And the polar bear needs to take a shower. Stinky bear.

It is sad, but cute in a way. What zoo did you take this picture in?

What a fun shot, Keith.
5 Years? They'll be ruling the world in 20.

I remenber this one, I think you also have with the polar bear in the water, not sure.
I think it's one of my favorite of your shot, actually I really enjoy your photography, but the details on the bear are amazing, and I like the scene. The differences joy/sadness, free/prison...
Send me a print of it !!
I think you're not so far from the truth when you're saying that they all be dead in 5 years... Let's say 30 - 50 years.

I remember this one; it's good to see it again Have you played any further with the post-production techniques that went into the depth and details of this one?

Haven't really played around much, during the time I did this I played around a lot, but never got something I liked, this was an exception though, I did like how it looked. I actually based the animal series off how one of my attempts turned out, just darker and oily, hard to explain but the process opened up to see what images could look like transformed.

Have you ever played the Polar Bear game?
It's simple:
DON'T THINK ABOUT POLAR BEARS.
If you think about a polar bear, you lose.
Go!
