Description First upload I've done in a while.

It's technically vent art, to be honest, because of all the things going on with FiM's story and lore development (like that blasted spin-off film which I do not like in the least, and the worry I have over alicorns in general and where they're taking them in the show's lore), as well as the problems that I know about in real life and worry about and get sad and angry over on a nigh daily basis (the fact that problems exist at all bothers me), I've sort of retreated into my mind a bit.

I made my own little place that goes deeper than I did with Chronos. This is essentially just a sort of finalization of that thought. I don't intend on mentally going to this place every time I worry, but it is something I suppose.

The alicorn in this is essentially a mental representation of myself in a way, or a part of my mind (hence the frustration and worry in his expression). He is not a representation of the worry, but rather just the state I was in when I came up with this idea and the state that I go into whenever worry gets into my head (which is quite frequent).

In this space, that flying castle (I have a bit of a thing for floating buildings, and please don't reference Bioshock Infinite; I know about it already) is a sort of haven for all that live in it. The population is small, but stable (no pun intended).

Nothing ages, breaks, or wears out (no doubt or concern over whether alicorns live forever or not here; they do live forever here as does everyone else). Creativity is not limited except for ways that cause violence (so there's always something new to do). The castle never needs fuel to stay aloft, and has no real propulsion system to keep it up; it just floats.

There either isn't a planet/plane below it either (at least not most of the time), just an endless sky.

Why is all of this the case?

Well, sorry, but there's no epic storyline here.

It's like that BECAUSE I SAY IT IS.

That's right; there isn't an explanation. It's like that because that's the way this mental alicorn me has made it.

If you absolutely need a comparison, consider the Daedra from the Elder Scrolls video game series; their realms of Oblivion are extensions of them, and the laws of physics there bend to their will simply because they do.

Same story here.

ugh...

Like I said, this is essentially a form of vent art...

As vent art, you shouldn't feel the need to overexplain yourself. That's the beauty of art - everyone can take whatever they want away from it.

In other news, fuck you. I actually WANT to be able to draw and shit, and everyone around me can draw well, and I can't. T_T

That... actually felt like a short explanation by my standards....

Also, when it comes to drawing like I did, I used 3 things in Gimp for this:

1: an equine anatomy sketch

2: a bird anatomy sketch

3: Gimp's "galaxy" brushes for the effects such as the spotted shading and clouds

The sketches were for skeletal references. It made it easier to adjust the pose of this alicorn. As goes the brush effect, I used the large and small galaxy brushes in Gimp while using both the normal paintbrush tool as well as the dodge/burn tool and the smudge tool.

Also, this took a while even when distributed over a good 3 days.

I know, but even my 13+ hour projects don't come out as good. It's okay. I wasn't really looking for a tutorial. Just voicing my disdain.
