Yeeeep...So I tried crosshatch shading.... Not doing it again. u.u

really the only part I didn't like the crosshatch shading is on the 3 speech bubbles you used it on but other then that I would really like to see you use it more it looks really good

I see. Why is that? I was thinking I might have needed to do darker around the thought bubbles. Is it too messy looking, should the crosshatching be more uniform?

For some reason, I really like how "rugged" that druddigon looks! Hopefully that's some consolation for your work on the hatch shading!

I know. It's part of the reason I have a hard time finishing my comics on time. I always end up hating my work and giving up. xD
I was kind of joking about the OCD, as being really obsessive about my art looking perfect or I won't like it. I do have a very similar mental disorder that's essentially the same though. Hah hah. xD

Oh I see. I'm always like that too when I'm gonna draw something new (take anime for example) though I have to keep going on to make it better even though I KINDA doubt that'll happen (since it would happen for a long time)

Yeah. I have good amount of pages left to draw and it takes a while to crosshatch. I think just applying a comic texture of some sort would go much quicker. Thanks though!

Depends on which one you use. The ones I have in my library suck. I literally once tried it as a "final touch", but scrapped the layer after 20mins of trying to fix it -_-

I have a few lower res .png-s because I can't really extract the black dots with my PSE10 (I could do this easily in the PS CS layer settings). They aren't fun to work with. I'll maybe try to find a new one sooner or later, but for now I'll just stick to my brush texture ^^'

Why does everyone actually have these programs? The only reason I have PSE is because it came with my Wacom tablet for free, and newer PS CS cost multiple hundred Dollars/Euros (unless you crac-... hm, did someone say something?). Still, even friends who don't even do anything with these have them...

I can't speak for anybody else, but in the past I've used Photoshop because I got a ripped copy (I wasn't aware it was ripped) for $100 over the internet. After my second personal laptop died, I got a Mac, and my college had this holy amazing Adobe software deal all for about $500 or so. So right now I have Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Bridge, uh... Extension Manager? I dunno, a lot of software came in that bundle.
Regardless though. I got Paint Tool Sai because everybody who had it seemed it have the ability to create amazing-ness on screen.... and it's true. Sai is amazing. Lines you make are easily silk smooth and the various brushes and options make it fun as heck. It lacks some things Photoshop has that makes it kind of annoying but regardless, best money spent ever.
Uh... but TL;DR, despite the pricetag, I have spent a ton of money on my art pursuits.

It might have been a bit more like $650 or something. I dunno, it' been a long time. It was definitely no more than $700 though. And that's for 12 programs, not 7. I just didn't care to mention them all because I've only tried like half of them, I'm not even sure what the other half are. ^^ But yeah, it was damn amazing deal....

Hah hah. I'm glad you think so. It just kind of looks messy to me. Essentially I think I need more practice knowing where to allocate values and what direction of hatching goes where. XD

Agh yeah, I can't give a good response to that because I love the messy look (specially when people somehow manage to make a messy paintlook good, it melts my poor mind) And yeah, It's always funny the things that go along with even crosshatching, Hopefully you'll get em figured out though, I love how they add a "textured" look to shadingΒ

Hah hah, thanks. If you really feel that way, it is possible I'm imagining stuff again. .____.' So sorry if I was being annoying by talking down on my stuff like that. It really sucks to be your own worst critic 24/7. Well, either way, I think it'd just be much quicker to use textures from now on. Crosshatching is pretty exhausting work. XD I won't drop hatching completely, but will be using it more for texturing than for shading and greyscaling.

Pfff, Trust me I understand the critic thing, heck, I really think we ALL do when it gets down to it. One day I'll draw a circle and be proud of it
And yeah, that's ONE thing that crosshatching destroys for anybody, time, piles and piles of it XD
Ah Coolio, just remember that you dont gotta worry about including em, Im not one to worry to much about cameos (Got more important things to do, like, watching Cats on you tube eh XD)

And also yeah!, I've seen people using croshatching for texture alone, and It's both a really cool and strange effect, I love all the different ways people apply texture to digital work (seems theres a new way everyday)
