I think your other art is awesome. Maybe people just pay more attention to your micros because they're approachable; they're familiar. Sometimes people don't really know how to handle it when an artist goes off in a different direction than the sort of stuff they're used to seeing from that artist.
But I say, just make what you feel like making, and even if nobody else appreciates it, you'll have expressed yourself.
