Description The GZ-1 (Georgy Zhukov) is a fictional tank design that I based off of my GRY351 that showed up in a GMod comic strip. This one rebrands it as an even larger Soviet post-war tank prototype intended as the ultimate defensive weapon while still having mobility to spare. Research conducted with the rebuilt Maus prototype enabled the Soviets to identify what made the super-heavy tank so immobile, and then corrected it in what could only considered the largest tank ever built. This version is in livery consistent with late-40s Soviet tanks during its trials, during which is wasn't given identification markings due to Stalin's increasing paranoia concerning enemy spies (which to a degree was well-founded).

For the sake of a size comparison, the turret is about the same size as the turret of another tank project of the USSR at the time: the IS-7.

Most data is unavailable due to damage to the original documents resulting from a fire in mid-1951 that destroyed one of the buildings at the design bureau responsible for the GZ-1's design

Georgia was the first superheavy tank ever built by the Soviet Union, based on lessons learned from World War II as well as the captured Maus superheavy tank from Germany. It was determined that a greater emphasis had to be placed on mobility for such a tank, as its main purpose was to carry a large weapon for defensive purposes, and as such it was named Georgi Zhukov after the mastermind of the defense of Kursk and the assault on Berlin (and the supreme commander of the Soviet armed forces at the time).

As opposed to other superheavy tanks, most of Georgia's weight was in systems that worked in favor of mobility, with armor barely better than the IS-3 but on a much larger chassis. Her twin diesels proved very powerful, and her suspension allowed her to climb virtually any obstacle no matter how high the grade, a system that was all but forgotten until the AT-1 automated main battle tank was designed in the 21st Century.

Georgi would not see combat under Soviet command; instead, she ended up sent to bolster a movement in Iran to set up a pro-Soviet regime in the early 50s, but she was lost in transit somewhere in Afghanistan (she had to drive all the way there as no plane could carry her and ships were still risky due to leftover mines from the Second World War). She was located in the 60s and rebuilt by a militia in Afghanistan opposed to control by the global superpowers. Georgia, having never fought for the USSR, couldn't have cared less whom she was fighting for, as long as she remained alive and would receive a major ugrade in the 70s with a new smoothbore gun and stolen Soviet targeting equipment that made her deadly even to modern tanks.

In 1982, she at last saw combat AGAINST the Soviet Union in control of the Afghan militia with support from the United States. Before the rebels got their hands on shoulder-launched SAMS, Georgia's 20 mm cannons were the best possible weapon they had against the Soviet Hind helicopter gunships. By 1986, she had taken part in several major victories, the group now having renamed itself Al-Qaeda under a new commander that would in time become the worst enemy to the very nation that helped to force the Russians out.

From then on, Georgia's use in combat was limited until 2001, when the United States invaded, forcing her to fight against the Americans and nearly resulting in her destruction by a flight of A-10s. She was severely damaged, but eventually repaired, and with continual (stolen) upgrades remained a viable weapon. Once the Taliban was forced onto the run, Georgia was smuggled by Al-Qaeda to Lebanon, and then from there to Syria where she supported the rebellion in 2011 up until mid-2013, when a massive army of what was believed to be Russian tanks arrived, prompting the loyalists to surrender out of fear within 24 hours. These were the machine revolutionaries, and with very little convincing, Georgia joined them, merely enjoying the thrill of the fight. She continued to serve in the Middle East before being transferred to the Americas where she fought in the American Southwest until she was disabled in battle. Currently, she serves as the commander of all ground forces for the Middle-Eastern Peace Enforcement Corps, a military faction that keeps the various territories of the Middle East from clawing at each other's throats, which they continue to do even AFTER the departure of humans, oddly enough...

Just sayin, but this reminds me of the scorpion from Halo. Is it coincidental?

Actually it IS a coincidence; I accidentally drew a Soviet Scorpion!

I know this is an old comment, but I decided that soon I'll do exactly that as another post-war design by ArmorTech Military Systems.

Exactly? That might not be a good idea, but based on or very similar to would be ok.

Glad to hear it; trust me, I actually had to mentally-engineer this thing so that it would be a design that could have existed at the time with knowledge consistent to the late-40s USSR.

Oh! Can I maybe use this design in my RTS game TGW?

Sure thing, just remember to give me credit

In fact, I'm interested in hearing more about this game, and if you want I can provide you with more designs as we move along. Out of curiosity, does TGW stand for anything?

Phillipzu In reply to ZeroRM [2013-02-19 08:45:35 +0000 UTC]

Oh thank you!

Well, TGW stands for The Global War, and it's about that USSR during the period from 1944 - 1953 had researched on creating 'Bowser' ([link] ) but when Stalin dies, the subject who needed to be mutated to this mighty creature, insists on being turned into 'Bowser' but during the mutation, he gets mentally out of control, and breaks out of the bunker, kills everyone. Except the main-scientist named Boris Volkov, they escape from the facility. But in 2015 Soviet Russia still exist! They're allies with USA. But suddenly the Koopa-Empire rises, mind-controlling large zones, build walls around them. And make the zone like the 1930-50s USAs future. The Empire begins to invade USSR and USA. The war begun.

So it's basically Super Mario meets Modern Warfare 2 meets Command and Conquer: Red Alert?

WOOHOO!!!! RED ALERT 2!

I have never played MW2 or Mario either...

But, yeah. That's it!

You've never played ANY of the Super Mario games...yet your idea centers around it almost entirely.
